geauxtime9 0 Posted February 14, 2013 Getting the game this weekend. Curious to how the gameplay is at night...couldn't find any video on it. More zombies at night?
ActionManZlt 160 Posted February 14, 2013 Night time simply reduces visibility, a lot. It depends on the phase of the moon as to how much ambient light there is.On a moonless night, it can become pretty much pitch black at night, where you can't even see your own hand in front of your face. This makes torches, weapons with attached flashlights, flares and chem-lights (glow-sticks) very important items.I like playing at night because it's easier to escape from bandits ^_^It's also easier to avoid detection from zombies due to the reduced visibility -- assuming you can see them in the first place (zombies don't react to flashlights, so they won't chase you if you shine your torch on one)... but if you don't have any kind of light, then it's very easy to accidentally walk right into a zombie and get yourself in a bad situation! When running away, you often don't see things like fences either, and might get yourself stuck if you panic too much in the dark.
Smirl 13 Posted February 14, 2013 As the above poster said, moonlight nights will provide a lot of light, but nights with no moon will be pitch black. When you start out, start on a day server so its easier to get your supplies... then when night time comes you can hit the popular cities like Cherno, Elektro, Stary, NWA much more easily then in the day time. Zombies are far less likely to spot you, and other players, even if they have Night Vision its still difficult. DO NOT USE A FLASHLIGHT! You can see it from so far away, talk about a player magnet. You need to get one of these items for night time: Chemlight, flares, NVG (night vision goggles), or any other source of light. (guns with lights on them can work too)If you see flares, try not to run right to them, they are a sign of a recent player.
0013 10 Posted February 14, 2013 And what about players who play with the brightness settings? You can see very clearly when you set it
Synix 33 Posted February 14, 2013 As a side note though, light such as flares will attract zombie aggro. A neat feature is you can distract zombies by throwing a flare to draw their attention away from you or where you plan on going.
dekartz 315 Posted February 14, 2013 To sum up: Night makes dealing with zombies extremely easy. However if it's a moonless night, it makes dealing with players difficult as your light-sources can be seen for forever.

ActionManZlt 160 Posted February 15, 2013 And what about players who play with the brightness settings? You can see very clearly when you set itOn a pitch black night, no amount of brightness fiddling will help you. Black * 100 still equals Black. The "Gamma" setting used to work wonders for getting "free night vision", but it was patched out a long time ago to stop people exploiting it.
