New spawn idea (best one?)

Recommended Posts

Since i have been playing dayz. i always wonder, why you just spawn at the coast like it's everything normal.

It's like you got on boat to a zombie island, but who wants to go there?

So my idea is that you spawn unconscious (like if you have low blood and pass out) because that would make much more sence.

Like: "Arghhh, where am i? what is this place? Are that zombies? Oh god, better look for a map, a weapon and a vehicle, so i can get out of this coast!"

that is what imagination is for, You wash up on shore, wake up, wonder where and what the hell your doing here.

Your first instinct is to go into a built up area, where you witness the people who turn out to be psychotic infected individuals out to harm you.

Fight or flight? your story, your way of surviving.

Beach spawns make sense, unless you want to program a crashed flight going down over Chernarus, this would be plausible too. any method of starting in the periphery of the map would work.

the only let down is after the first time you spawn in, you know the score where as your character should not.

How do you simulate waking up easily? That's why you're already standing up. Ready for action.

Also, if you wake up, "Bettuh find ta map, an' a car".... well you don't know what the hell is going on. You don't know what this place is, who these people are, and why they're attacking you. The only reason that you can survive longer in DayZ than normal is because BEFORE we load it, we know it's a zombie mod.

If I made games, when I make them I'm telling little about it as possible, and making it very multi-impressional for TONS of interpetations, to equal that no one really knows WTF is going on. I'd most likely advertise it as a normal game, like the Sims, but not in the way I'd get in trouble for false advertisement.

Not only that, but having 10/100 clients of my game with extra files installed for a zombie apocalypse would be quite interesting... especially when they figure out that it isn't supposed to happen...

Holy sh*tballs. How awesome would it be if every time you loaded up the game you could conveniently forget what was going on?

I know that the mod is restricted by ArmA2, but there's no reason why the SA can't ship with some sort of mind-erasing laser.

Rocket, get on it.

there are scripts for spawning unconcious units in Arma 2, implimenting this for player starts would be easy enough (Im no expert) But would you really want to start a game where you are? It is bad enough on certain servers when you spawn on the beach, campers can be everywhere aggro'ing players.

Imagination wins each time.

I loved the suggestion of waking up in a hospital bed, gives a great nod to the first 28 days film. you would not know anything nor how you got there. Only problem is the timing, how long has the infection been going on for?

I made a suggestion of when your character dies, Your new spawn, spawns on another map.

I know it is a bit silly, especially for all those who like a certain map. But imagine your a survivor and you're gonna not give a crap, survival is what you must do where ever you are. this would add to the confusion, starting on a map you are familiar with but the shock of not knowing where you will respawn upon death.

With all the providers out there you could easily just pick another map to play on if the idea is not for you. (Well eventually for the SA)

Just an Idea.

I think that this would actually be a pretty neat idea. Have a static C130 crashed in Chernarus some where, and have a .avi or .mp4 play for whenever a new player joins the server.

Could go something like; The plane was having technical difficulties, crashed in this horrid land, and you survived by parachuting out, yet you still got knocked out by the landing.

This is sort of related, but people should spawn on Utes island. That would be unreasonably cruel and entirely awesome!!!

Edit: it would be like kamenka. People

Would kill them selves and then QQ in the forums. There tears would be

Delicious!!

I played Utes when it was ported over for DayZ, It was a PVP nightmare, trying to get on the main Island was hell, campers in the trees and lighthouse.

If Spawns are on Utes there will need to be a harbour full of boats in order to get off it.

For the mod?? I never knew that they added to the Chernarus map Utes in the mod. I know that by itself it is a PvP nightmare, but if it was a rare spawn location , it wouldn't be so bad.

huh? No Utes was added as a seperate island map for the Mod.

I only hope Utes has some unique features in order to want to visit it, I had a bad experience on it before.

There's not really much to Utes by itself, but as part of Chernarus+ I reckon it's likely to end up similar to NWAF in terms of action.

Maybe it would be good to start off stranded. It would definitely mix things up a bit.

But I see it as more of an objective than a starting point.

As for spawning KOd. It's not going to really add anything apart from a delay to the start of your journey.

There's another topic about having players spawn in random houses etc.

Some people seem really keen on the idea. I think it'd be heading towards telling us a story instead of letting us forge our own story.

I'd rather keep the simple, unexplained beachlander spawns TBH.

Thats cool! But then thats a set spawn location, one for other players to easily camp and kill anyone who spawns into the game...just like WarZ.

Personally, what I'd like to happen to have a sense of confusion and bring it closer to life, is you spawn in on the coast like you normally do. Maybe have the message in the bottom right pop up saying where you after, and after that, each time you log in, there is no message saying your location. That way, you have to remember. Once you die and start a new character, the message comes back up again.

I think the other way round would make more sense.

If you wash up on shore, you don't know where you are and you'd have to figure it out for yourself.

If you walk somewhere after adventuring for a bit, you'd have more of an idea of your whereabouts.

Personally I'd like the message with your location to be removed entirely.

Deffinetly agree with that to some extent, Ive actualy used it to navigate when lost, (once) very time consuming. but i think it would be best if it only showed up upon spawning just so you dont end up wandering off into the wilderness in the direction of nothing.

That would make more sense! Would make a map and real world navigation skills that more useful and important! Plus, it would mean each person is going to be more unique in that sense, not everyone can read a map properly.

Players would cry, teams would not know where team mates spawned, Noob's would be put off, Go for it!

I find that sometimes the location can be more confusing than good.

"Wilderness? WTF? Lemme respawn...."

McCullins was killed.

"Airfield? But I thot you don't spawn at NWAF or NEAF!!!???"

McCullins was killed.

"Otmel? Well where's the islands?"

McCullins was killed.

"Kamenka! Oh hell no, not doin' this!"

McCullins was killed.

*sigh* "Wilderness again...."

McCullins disconnected.

You don't have to necessarily spawn in the same location. Because you ejected out, it could be at random, not really close to the crash site.
