Holding up players

Hey guys,

I'm sure most of you watch Frankies videos and we've all seen him hold players up.. (telling them to stay still and to put there weapons down)

Does anyone on the forum do this? Do you do this so you can get away unharmed or do you steal their items?

Hi yea i've been doing it since launch mate. It's the safest way. Its quite common on our server. Its fun too!

Only the other day a few of us took a guy prisoner, disarmed him, gave him a last meal and prepared to throw him in a volcano (Taviana), before we changed our mind and asked him trivia questions, for each one he got right he got himself 30 seconds head start. Fun times....

YES. Only once though..... Me and a buddy held up a guy taking off in a plane. He got out, looked around, didn't see us, and tried to start the plane and get away......he didn't get away.

Ive tried it, never worked, just ignored!

Also, tried impersonating frankies "hey buddy!" voice to see if anyone goes crazy like "OMG FRANKIE" that has also never worked lmao

I dont see the point to me it would be more of a burden to have a 'hostage'. IMO send them packing the other way with a stern warning or shoot them dead.

Me and my friends play on this custom base server and a couple of them like to call themselves namalsk PD and pick up bandits, take them to the base, and execute them

noone gave up after saying "drop it or you're dead" to me.only one guy did,but just cause he had an empty gun-.- rest of em just tried to kill me.also,i had been a hostage once,i was riding my bicycle and i came across 5 guys with rifles killing zombies.they let me ride with them(after i dropped my gun) and then we got ambushed by 2 guys in a hospital.half of "my group" died,and i got my ass almost fucked by dragging a wounded guy to safety,and then using a dead guy's enfield to clear the area.then i bloodbaged the heavily wounded guy and i got shot on the head from his friend cause i was saying friendly but my fast double pressing of caps lock didnt work :(

I have been held up before while in my taxi, once I explained what I was doing. Both players were taken aback by such a gamestyle, they were friendly after this.

I took them to El Villon airfield, where I saw the most intense battle ever, there was me on the runway as players were dying all around me.

then the 2 man team who got a lift got back in and went to Maruko for some more fun.

I was fortunate enough to see them hold someone else up, Even he left with a smile and a DMR (I used to loot and fill the car up with good stuff and drive around like an arms sales man)

Never had a bad encounter a bullet or two could not sort out.

If some sort of "suppression" or "fear" effect were involved then this might work.

THB if this happened to me, I would ignore/attack my assailant. Iv'e got past the stage where I "roleplay" due to too many KOS experiences.

You would kill someone on sight who is not killing you on sight because people tend to kill people on sight?

I normally run around in a team of three, and since zombies are a player indicator, you can easily get the jump on them in cities, and then i wait till i see them and my two buddies are near, if he doesnt answer or tries to attack us/run away, he is dead every single time, since we have the advantage of knowing where he is, while he only hears a voice and sees one of the three of us

larger groups we tend to attack or ignore, but single people are easy to deal with in that kind of way

when the person cooperates and drops all his guns, he is given a free run in a direction we dont want to go without any shot in the back

I attempted this just once and got it spectacularly wrong.

Was just North of Stary Sobor in the treeline planning my route into the military camp, when I heard footsteps run past me. I saw a guy in a ghillie suit creep past, so I aimed for his head and clicked on my mic - "Stop right there or I'll shoot".

Unfortunately, in my haste, I'd forgotten to click off the Side Channel, so the guy (and no doubt just about everyone else on the server) spun round to see whether the idiot in side chat was talking to them. I saw him swinging round, so decided it was better not to take the chance, and put found M1014 slugs into his head and chest. After the initial confusion over what happened and why, he saw the funny side of it. Worst part of it all? The gunshots attracted zombies, and I had to run before I had chance to loot his ghillie suit - five minutes later the server restarted and his body disappeared, so I didn't even get anything out of it!

Theoretically, though, as I play alone, I don't think I'd ever walk right up to someone when holding them up until I was sure that A) they were alone, and B) they were unarmed. I'd look to either stay hidden until they'd put down their weapon or if they look/act like someone who's going to try and run or attack, just shoot first and ask questions later - maybe a shot in the legs with the promise of morphine if they co-operate, else they'll be left to die slowly.

If I would be the one you'd cross paths with someday in DayZ, I'd go down fighting. I don't want being ordered by complete strangers. There's this stubborn thing called pride.

Pride has killed a lot of people over the years. Can't recall it saving too many, though.

If I get held up, you can be damn sure I'll be doing what the guy holding the gun tells me to do, Rather a live coward than a dead hero.

I do, I do it for the lols on new spawns it goes something like this:

Sneak up on unarmed player,

shout "FREEZE!, GET ON THE FLOOR NOW BEFORE I BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF" over direct chat

Wait for them to get on the floor

Then say "very good, carry on" and walk past them
