item spawn rules, how long and when

Recommended Posts

New player here and am trying to figure out the rules and game mechanics.

When I die how long does my body stay there? If i reboot the server does it effect my corpse or items dropped?

If is set an item down on the ground how long will it stay there? Assuming no other survivor takes it. (=

Can i return to the same grocery store multiple times to check loot drops?

I have really enjoied playing so far.

Thanks for any comments at all.

Check this link

Its a repost from a previous post on these forums & its very descriptive.

I understand exactly how the loot/item/drop system works, but even I was unable to read that post and comprehend it. (skim-reading)

Basically, though;

Bodies don't disappear until you restart the server.

Items you drop on the ground don't disappear until you restart the server.

You CAN check the same building for loot multiple times. You just have to be at a distance from it for about 10 minutes for the loot to respawn.

Once you breach a 50m radius loot will spawn at any EMPTY loot spots in a building. If the loot spots have anything (even tin cans) then nothing new will spawn for 2 hours.

You can pick up the trash loot and ditch it outside. Go away for 5 minutes and then come back. New loot should have spawned.

From what I can understand by looking at the code (I may be wrong) you have to be within 30 and 120 meters for +10 minutes and then the loot inside the building is re-generated (what is empty is filled and what is not empty is replaced, always randomly according to the %).

You do not need to remove the trash. It will be replaced anyway.
