themichel303 0 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) So on high settings i get 15 fps in dayz...on low settings i also get 15 fps. But when i play arma 2 OA or regular arma 2, i get 50 fps, even in populated servers. I heard that all the zombies in the server or the server itself can effect fps. But why 15? in cities like cherno or eleckro i get 10 fps :(. Before when i played dayz i got 45 fps and 30 in cities and all of a sudden my fps changed to 15. i dont know why it did this. is there a way i can fix this and get it back to 45 instead of 10...at least 25 fps...i tried game booster, lowering settings, ramdisk, and changing the arma 2 cfg files and setting gpumaxframes ahead to 1 and gpu detectedframesahead to 1 aswell but it did not change anything. My pc specs areCPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640RAM: 4 GBGraphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series Edited February 11, 2013 by VvMICHELvV
DieBrotmafia 79 Posted February 11, 2013 Did this change have something to do with the new patch 1.7.5.1?
FinalNinja447 129 Posted February 11, 2013 Did this change have something to do with the new patch 1.7.5.1? I was just thinking the same thing.... has this happened since you (if you did) installed the latest DayZ version? Try downgrading (Again, if you're on 1.7.5) and see what happens. svisketyggeren 662 Posted February 11, 2013 I think it has been explained before that there is a difference in fps on dayz compared to arma 2....cant remember details, but the zombies has something to do with it
Dayzo 182 Posted February 11, 2013 So on high settings i get 15 fps in dayz...on low settings i also get 15 fps.I think the server can force 'minimum settings'. So you can change your landscape and objects to 'low', but actually the server keeps them at a minimum of 'normal' so that everyone sees more-or-less the same thing. ZomboWTF 527 Posted February 11, 2013 The fps hit in dayz is because your pc is the one calculating the zombie AI afaik, also the loot and zombie spawns when you enter an area
gesundheitk 420 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) The reason why you have such a huge frame difference is because your CPU has to calculate more advanced AI, and a lot of them. Which means if there is a nearby town with zombies in it, your CPU also makes them.Putting everything on low settings only puts the weight on your CPU instead of your GPU. It's best just to play at normal settings, and maybe turn off AA as a last resort, but keep FXAA on at Normal if you want. Also, turning off ATOC (a ton of crap) and PPEffects can really help. *DarK_SouL* 3 Posted February 11, 2013 I have personally noticed the FPS difference in this update... I'm so used to 65-70 frames while playing DayZ. I'm now getting 40-50 FPS. It's not a big deal, it just concerns me. But yeah, I noticed the FPS difference with the update.
_Anubis_ (DayZ) 139 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) To the OP: you have always three possible constraints: either CPU-bound, GPU-bound or RAM bound. Were you RAM-bound you would face stuttering and fluctuations in your fps. A drastic decrease in a city means you are CPU-bound, all your processing power is used up to compute AI path and detection checks for tens/hundreds of Z.Alter graphics setting does not help since you are changing the load of GPU, which is not the bottleneck._Anubis_p.s. 1.7.5.1 may have increased the CPU load hence the difference. To proof it you can use dayz commander to revert to 1.7.4.4 and check the fps in the same situation Edited February 11, 2013 by _Anubis_
oli83 11 Posted February 11, 2013 Well I have aIntel i7 six core 3.3ghzNvidia gtx 680 2mb16gig ramI only get 20-30 fps. I have everything on highest but looking at the posts above it sounds like I should turn a few things off which don't seem to be needed.
RIGHTLY 87 Posted February 11, 2013 Its the new update, man. Dont all the zombies and quite possibly loot spawn at the start of a server restart, like what the standalone is gonna be like?

Must be a cheap knock off gtx680. Na all jokes aside that's shit man. I have an i7 950 6gb ram 2x5870 cross fired and get over 100fps with every on max except post processing effects. Cause I don't like the way it make it look. I do however have a raid 0 with 4 x WD 10,000rpm velociraptors soo maybe that helps but not that much. Are you running 64bit windows? excursion_@hotmail.com 19 Posted February 11, 2013 DayZ MOD is not really optimized, its a MOD can't really blame rocket for it. He has indicated significant improvements for the standalone. One of these improvements is the reduction of client side calculations. this will go miles towards the improvement of FPS.I recommend if you wish to continue playing DayZ to start with really low graphic settings and increasing them until you start to get less that 40FPS Anything lower than 40FPS and it will be unpleasant to play. I am not a pro with tinkering with pc's so I just bought a rig which would last some time but it sounds like I need to change something to improve my performance. I can overclock the gpu and CPU but I thought I wouldn't of needed too.Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Make sure you have all updated drivers and windows updates. Then start to close stuff you don't need. Chances are you have a zillion icons next to your clock. It's gotta be a driver issue. Your specs are awesome
nimrodaus@gmail.com 17 Posted February 11, 2013 Also just picked up on, 50 FPS on ArmA 2 is still poor. That 680 is a monster card and should fucking destroy your monitor with frames. Hmm update your gpu drivers. If you have then roll them back a few updates ago and see. Also what program are you using to measure your FPS? Fraps is decent I spose so that is a good one. Turn all your graphics settings to max, what resolution are you running? 1080 is good place to start. Seriously your system should kill it. Turn v sync off. I don't run pp effects either
excursion_@hotmail.com 19 Posted February 11, 2013 if you could run a directX output it would help us identify the problem.I agree with Nimrod, your GTX680 should be eating DayZ alive. FRAPS is the best for testing your FPSMumble (a free team chat program) can also do it pretty well.To run your system report type dxdiag into your startbar. Then run the tests and generate the report. It will be lots of text but at least we can see your actual system specs. If it was my machine I would do a backup and format.P.S do not load on bloatware (a term used to describe useless software from your retailer)If you don't need it don't load it. This is renowned for slowing A+ machines down. After your system format load on your drivers and software essentials then make an image using the windows 7 backup tool.(This will make future formats 1000% faster)Get the DX report posted here before you do anything. colekern 1364 Posted February 17, 2013 Join a different server. This happened to me once. I found a secure public hive, but then the makers of it stopped caring about it. Because they didn't bother to make sure it was running very good, my FPS dropped to 15. In short: Find a new home server.
