Fuse boxes for buildings

Recommended Posts

Just came up with this idea and had to share it, wouldn't it be cool if there were fuse boxes at the back of houses and other buildings, and every now and then lights would go out or start to flicker. Say if the lights were out in this building and you wanted to loot/stay in this building. You could try to find a part or parts for the fuse box and try to fix the electrics with the toolbox item. This was just a random idea and thought it might be worth sharing. I think having flickering lights and having power cuts would add more horror to this amazing mod/game. Thanks for reading. I know this is asking a lot and i know how hard you guys are working on the mod (especially with the people who are hacking). Just want to say i appreciate what you guys are doing!

Were is the power coming from?

Maybe we could make a zombie burning power plant? or turn a vehicle into a generator? or if we had some solar or wind power near by?

Now that I think about a zombie burning plant would be tits. Give you a reason to mow them down atleast.

But honestly humans have survivied tens of thousands of years without electricity. In a survival situation creating electricity would be the last of concerns. Atleast to the wise who dont want to attract attention from bandits and zombies for a comfort you dont really need. Fire would surely be the choice for heat, cooking, light, and numerous other functions.

While i have been playing i have noticed some power lines connected to a power plant/factory. That could be the source. I also agree electricity would be the least of their concerns but it's just an idea ^_^ I also like the idea for a reason to kill the zombitches B)

That is a very good question that i can't answer aha ^_^ The survivors could try and operate them in some way, i don't really know how they operate

Actually, i think there's already a mod for this. its called AEG or something like that, it basically reworks how all lighting is through out chernarus. So, at server restart all the lights through out the cities would be on, making night time, a little less "dark" i guess. Now, the power actually comes from fuse boxes on powerlines that are scattered through the city, these can be shot out, so that the power goes out in that part of the city, and can repaired with a tool box (and other items) should you want light again, now, if you shoot the main power box, the entire city loses power.

its has pros and cons aswell, not just cosmetic changes

Light: +Easy visibility

+makes things easier to see and possibly loot

- Infected see you better

- can attract players

Power Outage: + Stealth is easier to maintain

+ Infected do not see you, Unless you get to close

+Players would have harder time of finding you

- Visibility greatly reduced (duh)

- Looting may be slower, as you have to take your time

- As players can't see you, you might not see them.

So, the mod i believe is there, i don't know why other server have not implmented this yet

dude im not in a zombie apocalypse. im playing a game. it would be cool to restore power in this GAME!!!!!!!!

Also being able to restore power to a city would give incentive to play at night without nvg's. thats another big thing. i dont know anyone that wants to run around in pitch black trying to find items.

Well, that's actually the point of this game, it's zombie-apocalyptic simulator, it's supposed to be realistic, it's supposed to be harsh. IRL i doubt you would be running through alleyways kitted with an M4-SOPMOD, ammo and NVG's now would you? sure it's a really cool idea, but it has to start somewhere. not just "well i want light, Because racecar"

i want light because i want incentive to play at night and i want more stuff to do. and i get that a supposed to be harsh and a simulator but if you made it like real life down to the bone you wouldnt respawn after you die, there wouldnt be zombies, and loot wouldnt respawn. and im telling you right now if there was a zombie apocalypse the very first thing people would is to flock together and try to rebuild civilization. because thats wtf humans do. you cant ask a person to live in the woods without electricity. we are naturaly drawn to building. thats why our species is where we are.

Technically speaking (from an electrical engineering POV) there's probably nothing wrong with any of the wiring.

Just the power plant is out of action.

You would need a LOT of fuel to get it going again, and folks (not bandits, just idiots) will do anything they can to spoil your day.

If you want to rebuild society, PEOPLE are what's important.

Once you've got a skeleton crew, it'd make sense to try and create some semblance of a community. Because, as radrussian said, it's what we're drawn towards as a species.

sounds great, you could pack a car full of jerry cans to the small electricity buldings outside of cherno for example, and that would make power available for the towns around it, now you only need a few packs of light bulbs and fuses, and you're good to go

maybe there should be a motivation to do it, for example zombies not being able to spawn directly in the town anymore, but spawning a few hundred meters outside of it slowly walking to the town, giving you a zombie-invasion feeling and shit to do other than shooting other players ;)

i'd try to get mishkino going with electricity and build my small society of "mishkino misfits"^^

I'm not entirely certain of everyone's attitudes, but for myself, the fact that, for your effort, you can see better during the night, is motivation enough.

In a Zeds apocalypse, being aware of what's going on around you could be a life-saver.

Lighting up the streets/certain buildings would make spotting any infected/bandit attackers MUCH easier, in turn making your hidey-hole easier to defend.

It WILL make you stick out like a sore thumb, but fortune favours the bold, eh?
