Run both Arma2 and Arma2:Operation Arrowhead once to complete installation.

Download the latest version of DayZCommander from http://www.dayzcommander.com

Run DayZCommander and click the "install/update" button from the top menu.

Click "Install" under Arma2 OA. Wait for the download and install to complete.

Click "Install" under DayZ. Wait for the download and install to complete.

There isn't any real need for step by step instructions any more. You used to have to install the files manually, now you can just use DayZ Commander. :)

You need ARMA II and ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead.

You can get away with using ARMA II: Free and OA but you'll have lower quality graphics and sound in-game.

Yes, Combined Operations is ARMA II and Operation Arrowhead. :)

And you don't need 7-Zip.

Install Arma2 >>>>> after instal play one game.

Install "play with six" after install update Arma2 to the latest patch with "six" (alternate is to download latest patches from the BIS website, then you do not need "play with Six"

Ok now install Arma2 Operation Arrowhead >>>>>> after instal play at least one game.

Again update Arma operation arrowhead to the latest patches ( you can use "play with Six" for that again or just manually download the latest patches from the official BIS website.

Then download and install "DayzCommander" Run that and install DyaZ true that. DayzCommander can also update your arma to the latest patch.

Now use "play with six" or "DayzCommander" to start your game in the correct "mode", so if you want to play vanila arma you don't select any mod in the Dayzcommander and start your game >>> it starts vanila, yeaaaa.

Now load a MOD in Dayzcommander and start your game again, WHOOOO, we now start arma with a mod :)

If posible DO NOT BUY FROM STEAM, just buy yourself a hardcopy on DVD, trust me in the longrun you thank me, also the installation true the dvd's is way easier and more nicely installed then this crappy steam.

Think about steam! Its very good: Faster Installation(easy downloadinstallation on every system you logon with you steam account), easy upadate, file correction per steam if something is broken in your game files.

Steam version + dayzcommander = 10-20 mouseclicks and your in game! On longtermview the steam version is better. There are no arguments against this.

A joystick? no not really... the pro pilots can take benefit out of joystick.. but i think keyboard is good enough for arma.

Been looking into a hardcopy and I cant even find one. So steam looks like the way to go.

I dont think I could get used to a keyboard but i will probably try so I dont have to buy a joystick lol. Unless XBOX controllers work?

you cant use a joystick for a fps game^^ so a Gamepad is your way to go. But ... yes gamepad... go for mouse and keyboard thats the only way to go for fps everything else will kill you in dayz.

I got a mate who is playing dayz with gamepad... and we allways get trouble because he cant take out zombies with headshot.
