frosti 2165 Posted January 31, 2013 1) There are vechicles, but it depends on server. Some servers will have tons of vechicles and some will have just a few. dasmooze 3 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) ok so normal hive is all connected to each other, you can play on one log, then join a different server later and still have all your stuff.a private hive server will not carry over anything, so the things you get on a private hive server only save on that server. the cool thing about them though, is most have extra vehicles that can spawn in fully repaied and extra weapons even some times tanks and jets will be added. many many kool new thing can be found on private severs. and most people agree, which is why more people play private hive than normal. (200+ vehicle servers etc)The hive is just the database the server connects to:-All "official" servers connect to the one database, run by the devs, you can move between any of these servers and your gear, location, character etc will persist. Official servers only support the one map (Chernarus)-Unofficial/Private servers connect to their own database, anything you do on those servers will remain only on that server only, admins have a lot more control on these servers (custom loadouts, custom vehicles, custom maps, additional admin tools etc)-There are also some unofficial servers that use a shared hive, meaning you can move between any of those servers. I think all Vilayer servers connect to 'Vilayer Hive' for example.Public hive offers more consistency and persistence but admins have a lot less control.Private hives offers a variety of experiences/maps/settings etc and admins with a large amount of control over there servers but that often results in something quite different from vanilla DayZ and everything you do on that server is only tied to that server.Most people moved to private hives because the additional level of control meant cheating was a lot more manageable.
