Modception and DayZ copyright.

I just don't know how he became a solider or something. I may not be solider but I've experienced the recruitment process first hand and if you don't have balls or girth, you wouldn't be trusted.

This comment makes no sense you went through a recruitment process? balls or girth? Trusted?

Not sure what country your from but the recruitment process in the US is as simple as walking down and talking to a recruiter and signing up for your written (asvab) then if you pass go through meps. By no means an inside look at the military in any way or what I would call experience.

Think twice before you sully someone who has served, when you havent a clue as to what your talking about.

No, you think twice.

I was merely commenting how he's lacking leadership skills and integrity, most armies require civies to make the effort. I don't want to comment on the U.S army :).

He made this grandiose comment about the mod then he openly admitted (Pressured from a generic, easily ignorable question) he just looked at the frigging website.

Alright thought twice, your second comment listed here is better than the first as your first comment was useless and invalid. As for your I dont want to comment on the US army clearly it wouldnt matter as you have no military service experience what so ever and can share no true insight.

Same could be said about you about being useless and invalid but I am at very least staying on topic.

I'm in favor for modception to an extent, I have tried 2017 and had a great time playing it. I have not tried origins and havent had the time to yet. As long as there is no financial gain I support modception.

  1. Is It using the Arma engine? and charging? commercial product?
  2. People can be pursuaded to do and say things they wouldn't normally say, being an ex soldier means nothing. I'm greatful you can chat to him and he responds. 300x better than those tossers over at warzzzzz
  3. When does a mod of a mod become something else?

No offense but rocket needs to look into this with a bit more attention, If the SA comes out and people are still hanging out on the coat tails of DayZ, they need to be in dialogue with him, Players bought warzzz because of the name similarity and look what happened there, Near nervous breakdown. this is not a good place for the mod to be in wether rocket approves or not. With an SA coming out this year, the confusion needs to be dealt with now. even if it is just a chat to the modders about name or content the gesture needs to be made.

I can go out now and print a load of t-Shirts off and would rocket approve then? perhaps I was to add children who could be slaughtered into the mod and charge for playing it on my private servers, would this be o.k? people can be assholes and would do this kinda thing to be spiteful. DayZ's name would be tarnished. If you thought those arguments on "where is the SA?" were bad, think about when someone uses DayZ related items and goes one step too far.

the name of DayZ has been sullied once, for the love of god rocket, don't let it happen again. too much rope given can be used for climbing, but also to swing from.

A fan from the beggining...........

I don't think thats an issue. Even if theres a slight bit of confusion with all these mods, that is all they are, mods. They require you to buy ARMA2 to even play them. They also don't get primetime promotion. When you see DayZ up on Steam on sales, or in magazines, or advertisements before videos, you'll see the pure DayZ. The only people getting into these mods, are people that already have DayZ and know what they are getting into.

Did the ArmA modding community depart from the consensus of asking for permission from the original creator, before they used their code or made their own spin offs?

I agree to a lot of what your saying but, only one bad apple is needed. (I've nothing against the modding community, they are proven great) I want like most here DayZ to be great.

Customers are fickle, New players unless looking into the SA specifically will know what they are getting themselves into. Now not wanting to beat an old drum but same name games are going to confuse buyers SA or Mod. Most people see DayZ and think that must be the one unless Highlighted of the differences and they are aware of the SA. I am no marketing expert but consumers may confuse the two. We won't becaue we are here and understand the difference but others don't work that way. they will see DayZ and buy it there and then, some will go out and buy Arma 2 because as of now you need it in order to. We still get people asking what they need to run it.

How many people bought warzzzzz because they thought it was DayZ? I'll bet there were a few. Even Steam allowed you to type DayZ and you got warzzzz. the same will happen when the SA comes out with Mod and SA.

Besides, Mod's can bring negative views against the SA in many ways (IMO) If the community moves far from the SA and want to bring in new features it is still tagged as DayZ (think along the lines of censorship and differences of what is and is not accepted) Some goon somewhere will do damage to DayZ brand and in effect, affect the SA and staff involved. It is great people change aspects but I have not seen no control of DayZ mod. there are variations and some additions are / may be questionable. It only takes one to cause an uproar.

I am not saying Dean should let them run wild and try all Ideas, I'm saying a little bit more control needs to be taken from HIS model. the press is quick to judge and I would not like to see any shit being thrown at the DayZ brand nor people involved. and it might happen.

Not trying to be a twat, but we all saw the effect of the other game and how it misled people. I wouldnt want modders giving DayZ a bad name.

For non vanilla DayZ sadly, yes. This appears to be the case with dayz origin and so a little shitstorm is forming in the community right now, But I and the guys I am close to always ask permission. Anything I have used that was developed around the BI / Armaholic community I have permission to use.and I give credit. For the main community code I talked over it with R4Z0R49 I opened a ticket to request permission to use community code. R4Z0R49 also knows anythng he wants from 2017 he can have. We all have gentlemens agreements on giving credit and asking first and we often hit each other up to discuss features and different dramas that are going on,

Likewise if Rocket / BI and co want me to stop using the name, not problem - I can do so. I don't believe this is the case as Rocket has said he is ok with it over the past two days and I have chatted openly about it with Matt before who has said keep going. But serioulsy I won't lose out if need to move on and in all honesty I am getting close to giving up as I keep having to clear my name all the time. If its no longer fun for me, what is the point? I know this just happened with Bliss, the guy had enough and called it day and removed his website.

I'm very sorry, I am not trying to paint you in a negative light Shinshady (And other modders), You have highlighted how it should be, all in agreement and contact.

I am mearly pointing out the potential for abuse and DayZ being highlighted in our modern Sensor happy world.

As said I am no expert granted, I just don't want DayZ and those involved affected, Us the fans, the devs, and Bohemia.

Great, the guy leading the development team is indecisive and insecure about his own decisions/words .

I just don't know how he became a solider or something. I may not be solider but I've experienced the recruitment process first hand and if you don't have balls or girth, you wouldn't be trusted.

I don't really see his grandiose comment .. Really love some of the ideas in the mod, and the execution is great...is that it ? and the fact that he looked at the site and liked some of the ideas ?

That brings you to comment on his leadership, integrity and effort ?

 :emptycan:
