Main hive anarchy

Main problem with transitioning from the main to private hives is the fact you csn't find a vanilla server for shit. I've looked for months now and still can't find one. They all have extra vehicles, custom loot drops, care packages, starting loadouts, etc.

I frankly just want to play a pure vanilla and hacker-free server. I have so far been unable to do that.

I wonder how many of you guys writing off the main hive as dead actually ever play on the main hive. It's like people sitting in walled communities saying how overrun with violence the public neighborhoods have gotten. So let's pull police funding in those areas. If they weren't overrun with violence, they will be soon.

Reading these forums paints a nasty picture of the main hive. But, I play there everyday. I know first hand just how many hackers there used to be, and how many there are now. Things have gotten better, believe it or not. It's actually a very enjoyable place to play. I've never been tempted to find a private hive, the only reason I've ever strayed from the main hive has been to play other maps or mods.

I'm just frustrated with a community who seems to write of the public hive as dead, while it's exactly that attitude that is killing it.

If we're going to consider it dead, why not actually take it down? It's the last thing I want, but it seems like a logical step if it's being written off from high up the chain.

Edit: Maybe a large private hive will take its place, with regulations and standards. Doubt it, but I can dream.

Try US 303 on main hive, I've had no problems with hackers there in a long time. Not saying it never happens, just that there's a good admin to deal with it as it does.

As with any server, it's only as good as the admins running it. There's 100's of terrible private servers but the ones that are run well and responsibly really do allow you to play DayZ as it was originally intended. It really is worth taking the time to find one and then supporting it. For me it changed my whole experience of DayZ for the better. There was a point in the past when I nearly gave up playing entirely and then I found a good private hive and I've never looked back.

Could you please share with us what is so inherently different about BB from the rest? I can't find a server description anywhere online for BB.

I don't think I said anywhere that there was anything inherently different about BB from the rest. Over the last few months I've played on many well run private servers with some amazing admins, Byrgesen over at Planet Dayz for example. That was the first Private server I ever tried and it was because of them that I didn't give up on DayZ. There's tons of well run private servers and BB happens to be doing a fine job too ATM. The one thing that all of the well run servers I've played on have in common is that they have knowledgable admins that take their role seriously, it's the same for public servers too.

I'd rather this thread stayed on topic though TBH.

I still play on Hive servers. Dont really like private hives, Sure I haven't seen a blatant teleporting hacker, but i cant take all the mods and custom bases, custom crap and 30000 vehicles in one server. It just doesnt have the feel original DayZ had.

Just like I like Vanilla Counter Strike or any other game without 200+ mods on a server. I cant wait for the standalone, for one there will be less hackers. 2, there will be consistency

That's the one of the main reasons I'm looking forward to the SA too. Just a nice consistent experience with none of this messing around.

I'm always on the look out for decent private hive servers and I don't see any info listed anywhere on BB. I asked about BB because you are advertising them in your signature, I don't think it was to far fetched to presume you might have been talking about them, ya?
