Ability to be able to shoot out of cars

Just as the title says. I think it would be cool if passengers could shoot out of the side of a car or heli. Maybe add an option to "roll window down." Then you could have people choose between a bulletproof window (assuming you have one) or being ableto shoot back. You could even have it so you could only use a pistol.

I don't think this would be to hard to implement, and it would give the car better defense instead of having to step outside to shoot back.

During the Expo for Day-Z, Rocket did a Q&A and one of them was about shooting out the car.

Q(Audience Member): Playing through a large group of players and there's always a question that comes up through all of us is when were in vehicles like for instance when we found another group of people with vehicles and we get into a nice car chase and a time that it really ends is that someone screws up like crashing into a tree or a blockade but in the Standalone are you looking into implement shooting from vehicles like you're a driver sticking a pistol out the window or a friend going through the sunroof. Are you thinking of implementing things like that?

A(Dean Hall; Rocket): Well I know with ArMA 2 there has been some community made mods and this is one of the -- Ordinary thing of ArMA 2 is that they have all these fantastic mods of which DayZ is just a small part. One of the mods shooting from vehicles; there are some real technical issues with it and I can't remember whether it was ever on the ArmA 3 list -- I'm not sure, I'll have to look at the press releases on that but it's not on the list of things to do at the moment but I think we want to look at vehicles a lot that'd require some code time to do it but it's definitely not on the list of things for the initial release. We just have to be realistic like the hacking and the duping. If we don't fix that, it doesn't matter how many awesome stuff we can put in. I think this is something we should look at once we fix the basic problems because I see vehicles at least until we get this uber player construction that we want done. The vehicles will be in-game content. Until we get that end there won't be best things that we want.

Also Krihelion, im not saying that you put your whole body hanging out of the car to shoot. Also the driver wouldn't be able to shoot. Just because a person is shooting from inside of the "safety" of their car doesn't mean it's GTA in any way. I'll let you be that one guy that steps out of their car so I can get a better shot at you.

A very astute observation. Does that mean that in a life or death situation, you wouldn't use your gun against attackers in a high speed chase? Look on youtube, you can see police officers pointing assault rifles out of car windows. I've read stories of soldiers firing M4s out of little birds.

You need to give a better reason for this not to happen than stating the fact that this isn't a game about beating up hos and shooting cops.

I dont know y everyone take the piss out of this idea. Ive posted about this idea aswell and i will use the same statements here as i used then.

1. When your in a high spped car chase, you aint just gunna step out of your car to shoot your opponent, having the ability to shoot from your car is much simpler. I had the idea that maybe the driver could only use his/her secondary weapon and it would be hard to aim properly whilst moving. Wheras if u had a buddy he could stick a primary gun out the window or sunroof and shoot with much better accuracy.

2. Someone pointed out a feild of veiw sorta thing when shooting, so maybe youd have to break a few windows to get to an angle where you could shoot your target.

3. As TIC321 mentioned earlier, Dean 'Rocket' Hall mentioned in an interview at Eurogamer Expo 2012 (Clip Below), that there would be ways to customize your vehicle, and possibly to atach guns on it. Game developers were talking amongst them selves of a 'battle bus'.

Thats all i can rethink atm, allthough i may make edit's in the future.
