lionasty 5 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) Hi, I suggest a 'secured' status of buildings.now buldings spawns zombies and items. there's a problem. Even a small town of few buildings can spawn infinite zombies. For now, there's only one way to keep zombies quite for a few mins. by killing all 50 zombies allocated to a player...but this's because of system. A few mins later, zombies spawn work again. hell spawn never stops. they don't go the hell..!details of suggestion...1. The subject : Secured buildings don't spawns zombies. so prevent unrealistic infinite zombie spawns in towns.2. this might triggered by some kind of command or complete searching. but I want to suggest barricading with lumbers. for this you should have some lumbers (scrap metals?) to fortify building. don't forget hammer and nails... maybe toolbox contains them.3. Secured buildings should have distinction like barred windows or door, barricade, etc. Those can be used as a shelter too. Also zombies (those spawned by other unsecured buildings) should not to be able to open the fortified door or windows.4. Secured time has to be limited. I don't have an idea about how long the time have to be.5. Anyway, by securing all the builind in a town, the town can be green zone for limited time. also this means small town's easier to secure than big towns. this might makes a new reason for players to visit unpopular small town eventually.how do you think? EdtheZed 11 Posted January 22, 2013 I think that if you go into a building it should have zombies in it like 2 zombies that will make it feel like its an apocalypse because in a barn you will see a farmer spawn it will add more interest to players i think zombies should have a cap. Realistic zombies in different structures eg. barns farmer zombiesCap on zombies so they don't spawn like crazygood ideas :)
m00tley 50 Posted January 22, 2013 Make a system like Minecraft, where monsters can spawn everywhere in the world, but can only spawn 100 (I guess it is 100) meters away from any player. This way, if you are inside the building, you are actually securing it, if you walk 100 meters away from said building, the zombies may spawn inside this building again. Matteh 63 Posted January 22, 2013 I've always thought the idea of say a certain amount of players are in a city/town, a set amount of zeds spawn and they have to eliminate them, and the whole time they are there, no more will spawn, the endless waves can make it so hard for newer players. But depending on the scale of the city, the more zeds will spawn, so say Kamarovo, its quite a small village so say a maximum of 40 will spawn to 2 people (20 to each player in small towns), still a challenging number, but with the right planning, they can be taken out or avoided, whereas Cherno, Elektro and even the airfields need to be more challenging, so 50+ per player or something (might be a bit extreme haha)I dunno something like that would be better imo. Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted January 22, 2013 The spawning system I'd like to see would be this:Once an area is Completely cleared, the spawn rates change. Zombies still spawn there, but way less, and it stays that way as long as it is cleared before every restart. For every restart that it is uncleared, the spawn rate increases, until going back to normal. The real danger would come from wanderers. Wandering hordes of varying sizes that could and would pass through anywhere. They would be more attracted to areas that have been cleared and settled.A zone could be cleared, but won't stay cleared forever.
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted January 23, 2013 Hmm, I think securing a building should be more persistent, but have some kind of safeguard put in to say keep people from just making Cherno Zombie Free. Maybe not all buildings can be secured (some buildings easier than others, some MUCH harder). Id love to see something like this, go into a town or city, clear out a building, barricade it and make it defensible (at least to zombies) and used as a 'permanent' base. Depending on how its secured (Say a warehouse could be secured with just some chains and say a carbineer clip (anti zombie, cant lock players out)) you could set up shop in an apartment building. Barricade/secure the front door and lower level windows to keep the zombies out, kill any and all zombies inside (to make it secure and nonspawning, otherwise you've just locked the zombies in), maybe find/make something like a rope ladder out of a window (i honestly dont think that zombies should be able to climb at all in stand alone) so you have a way out if you don't want to have an openable door. Then you could go about 'restoring' the building with various loot (generators and gas to turn the lights back on and charge batteries, scrap metal and water containers for toilets, showers ect, clean the building up/sanitize it to decrease chance of infection, set up shelves and other stuff as storage, set up a small surgery room, lab, workshop, ect)Along the lines of a safeguard say make it so if you have attracted 5 or more zombies to the door they can start breaking it down. Players/bandits could destroy the barricades in some manner (Molotovs come to mind). Not all buildings being able to be secured (say can't fully secure a hospital or factory) also to discourage people from just securing a whole town make it so items will no longer spawn in a secured building, only whats already in and what you bring in (another reason to not secure a hospital, no more meds spawning)Something I mentioned above could be used as a trap, say someone locks up a building but doenst kill the all zombies (either dies or just locks them in) to stop them from spawning, whoever goes in could make the mistake of unlocking the door thinking its safe and BOOM, 20 zombies come rushing out of the door. This could be something awsome, Do you want to set up a bunker for you and your group out in the woods, or secure and clear the international hotel and use that as your group's base. CreepySalad 108 Posted January 23, 2013 How about not allowing zombies to spawn indoors, and add barricades.Improvisation really would add to the game.So that way there wouldn't be a "safe" status. You secure the building yourself, and if any zombies notice your presence, they'll attack the barricades to get to you.Kablam! Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted January 23, 2013 You would have to allow all players access with simple tools if you make a building secure. there will be a shortage of buildings if everyone closes off all decent buildings.
