Very odd spawn point or hacker?

Can players spawn near Zelengorsk?

I logged into a server and my character created right where I left him at 011 103.

So I was shocked and surprised to see an apparently freshly spawned player peering at from behind a nearby tree around 30 seconds later.

I immediately suspected he was a hacker, but since he didn't equip any weapon and ran away as instructed, I didn't shoot.

I did run 2 grid squares in the other direction and spent the next 2 hours looking over my shoulder...

Couldn't he have spawned on the coast and ran directly North to Zelengorsk?

Private hive.

He could been on a run dead North from spawn and I logged on right behind him.

In which case, he was probably more startled than I was.

I've not seen a player without at least a pistol or hatchet that far from the coast before..

That's usually how I play, especially when I spawn at Kamenka. I run straight North, pick up a backpack at Zenelgork and then continue to Starry/NW for guns, hopefully a heli crash site on the way.

Or he spawned fresh and was heading for his camp to gear up I guess. I usually head straight north from Kamenka too hitting the deerstands.

I tend to hoof it straight north, maybe grab food and drink and some bandages on the way, especially if I'm racing back to my body after I've died stupidly from being KO'd by Zombies or crashing a car with a red engine into those awesome low bearing walls at night with only headlights to see.

I'm happy I didn't shoot now and won't log off in the middle of the Coast to Zelengorsk Highway again.
