Firing from/in Vehicles

I always thought the fact that you cant shoot in or from a vehicle is sort of... bizarre, like, what if I wanted to shoot the driver in the head while we were driving from the passenger seat? Perhaps that isn't very fair, but eh, I don't know it could be kind of cool.

But I think it would be very cool if players could lean out the passenger window and fire weapons at other players. like, you don't have to get out of a car to shoot a gun in real life, why in DayZ?

But just imagine:

You're driving down the road with your buddy and you see a truck coming down the road, in that truck, is a few bandits, hanging out the window and firing at a few bambis running into the woods. From their in-game mics you hear them laughing hysterically. Finally, your getting close to them, both you, and the bandits open fire on each other, You're leaning out the window with an AK-47 firing into the driver side as you pass them, and disable their vehicle, you see you killed the driver and that you took a round or two and are bleeding. Your buddy spins the car around and you head back towards the remaining bandits. As you approach you see that there are only two more, one of them passed out in the road and is being bandaged. As you approach you send a burst into the still standing bandit, killing him off. You're driver shifts the vehicle slightly, running over the unconscious bandit before you head back out on your way...

I think this would add a great bit of fun to the game personally. Also, I was inspired by this video (just watch the beginning to get my inspiration.)

this was actually asked at the eurogamer presentation of dayz.... and this kinda of stuff may be added in later or as a endgame feature in SA

I'd like to see firing out of windows. You could select the option "fire out window" from the scroll menu while in a vehicle. They could make it take longer to get larger weapons into action, and weapons like pistols or folding-stock rifles would be significantly quicker. It sucks having to get out of a vehicle to start shooting at people because you can be easily shot, and if you stay in the vehicle... you are easily shot.

It would also be good for raids, chasing people down (including feeling vehicles) and quick getaways.

During the Expo for Day-Z, Rocket did a Q&A and one of them was about shooting out the car.

Q(Audience Member): Playing through a large group of players and there's always a question that comes up through all of us is when were in vehicles like for instance when we found another group of people with vehicles and we get into a nice car chase and a time that it really ends is that someone screws up like crashing into a tree or a blockade but in the Standalone are you looking into implement shooting from vehicles like you're a driver sticking a pistol out the window or a friend going through the sunroof. Are you thinking of implementing things like that?

A(Dean Hall; Rocket): Well I know with ArMA 2 there has been some community made mods and this is one of the -- Ordinary thing of ArMA 2 is that they have all these fantastic mods of which DayZ is just a small part. One of the mods shooting from vehicles; there are some real technical issues with it and I can't remember whether it was ever on the ArmA 3 list -- I'm not sure, I'll have to look at the press releases on that but it's not on the list of things to do at the moment but I think we want to look at vehicles a lot that'd require some code time to do it but it's definitely not on the list of things for the initial release. We just have to be realistic like the hacking and the duping. If we don't fix that, it doesn't matter how many awesome stuff we can put in. I think this is something we should look at once we fix the basic problems because I see vehicles at least until we get this uber player construction that we want done. The vehicles will be in-game content. Until we get that end there won't be best things that we want.
