What is Your First Instinctive Reaction When Spotting a Player?

Recommended Posts

It depends really. If I was to come across a bandit and I was unarmed I'd hide or run off. If armed I'd be tempted to take him/her on. Though I'm a bit too soft on DayZ when playing solo, I prefer not to engage with other players in a hostile manner when I'm on my lonesome. If I see another survivor I keep an eye on them and if the moment is right I try to approach them and say hi. I never trust those who don't respond to me. If I talk and type to you and you don't respond I tend to take off. Sure my methods have ended up with me dead but oh well haha.

If i see someone and i don't have a weapon i make damn well sure to find a weapon fast before the target can slip away.

Check for bandit skin. bandit = shoot. Survivor = Say hello or rob them or whatever I feel like. Also depends on the situation. Whether we are in Stary or in Cherno, if he has a gun if so which one, if he has seen me, if he's looting something I want the list goes on.

Nowadays, after giving up my kill on sight tendencies, if they don't see me, I don't interact. If they have no obvious weapon on them, I will try to talk to them if we come upon each other, but I tend to try avoid folks, and call out friendly if we get to close and I'm not too sure how things will go.

While playing Origins, I had been watching a guy come into a town, looking for car parts, I watched him for awhile from a close building, could've easily killed him as he fixed his Ural, but I didn't feel like ruining his day. I thought he left, I went to another building, he pulled up to it, got out, told him I'm friendly and that he either better be that also or leave, so I let him leave.

To me, this makes for a more interesting game going the more difficult, but engaging route. I could just shoot everyone, but that is easy and makes the game dull. Why would I want it to just be another PVP shooter? I could go play Battlefield 3 if I wanted that. I try and put myself into situations where yes, I might die, but I also might make a friend or get into some weird experience. If more people did this, it would make the game alot more entertaining lol

Stop, take cover, observe. If I am spotted, lay down fire and pull back to safe spot and hide. If not spotted, try to see if it is a bandit. If so and there's an advantage, I might want to be the hero, but generally, just fade away.

If it's a new spawn I will make friends, share food and drink, leave a weapon near by and then I am on my way.

Injured players get help most of the time. Lauren danger will help as often as possible.

I also provide rides if I manage to get a vehicle running and even have gotten good at escaping the ambush situations of those who lie about needing a ride and then open fire on me.

Play the "ghosting" game. (Not to be confused with ghosting between servers) Try and get as close as possible to them without them noticing, you win by taking things out of their backpack and getting away undetected. Bonus points if you manage to give them a ninja bloodbag.

I actually pulled this off almost identically except instead of a blood bag, I put in a Makarov.
