Can't play anymore with my Brother (same network)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have a little problem with playing with my brother on the same server usually we could just join on a server and start playing (november 2012 last time)

Now, 3 mounths later (play break ;-)) after updating everthing we can't join the same servers. allways just 1 of as can join. and we don't know why, i checked our IPs we have diffrent ones so i don't know why it doesn't work anymore. And now sometimes when i start playing on a server where my brother was i play on my PC with my Account but in the game i'm playing on his account ? or otherwise.. does anyone know why this happen and how we can fix it? i mean it should be possible to play with 2 PC in the same network on the same server on your own acc. and chars...

If we play on diffrent server it works "fine"

we also tryed to join over Sixupdater or over the Arma2 browser, nothing changed...

sorry for my bad english ^^'' hope you get my point ^^

heard of this problem before (slightly different story) but unfortunately havent found any fixes

simply put, it would seem that dayz doesnt like when 2 clients attempt to connect to a same server from one network

try connecting of a different internet network, maybe speak to a neighbor or something

good luck

I don't want to imply stupidity, but have you checked if you are on different Steam accounts?

have either of you logged into the others steam account from the wrong computer, if logged in as his character i think you might have 2 sets of cd keys in your steam reg.

just a thought i could be wrong.

1. Turn off Steam

2. Run "regedit" (win7: press Start, type "regedit" into search and press enter)

3. Go to:

(for 64 bit windows) HKEY_LOCAL_MASHINE>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node

(for 32 bit windows) HKEY_LOCAL_MASHINE>SOFTWARE

4. Find and delete both "Bohemia Interactive" and "Bohemia Interactive Studio"

5. Run Steam in admin

6. Run both games

do that on both computer each with a diffrent steam account this will fix your keys to each pc and you will stop logging into the same guy .

youll have to change the keys around if you change accounts on the pcs again i would export each key to a reg file and keep them on each pc so all you have to do is click each one to merge it into the registry

wouldnt this mess up the whole instalation of the games? unless steam auto fixes that, i dont see how would games work without their corresponding registry data (some games do work, but i dont think arma 2 is one of these)

Due to the use of the same copy of Arma 2 CO, my brother and I are experiencing the same issue, which is understandable.

However, I am curious if we will be able to join the same server if I purchase my own copy, or if it matters that we will still play from the same network.

I just do not want to spend the money on another copy of the game if we will not be able to play together anyway.

you can play together you just need to take the old cd key off one of the computers and add the new one
