Problem with starting both ArmA II and ArmA: OA

Recommended Posts

First off, let me explain the whole situation.

I'm currently living off a capped internet, so I cannot (re)download any games at my own house, instead I take my laptop to my girlfriend's house and download everything there.

I think copy over my SteamApps folder from my laptop to my PC so I can play my downloaded games on my PC, obviously.

Both Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2 did this flawlessly, with no trouble at all. (These are the only two games I have done this so far with.)

However, when it comes to doing it with ArmA II and ArmA: OA, I get the bad serial number given in setup error. This happens not just with Operation Arrowhead but with ArmA II.

I haven't been able to play the game at all since this error has been blocking me from doing so, so I have come to you for help.

I have searched all over the internet, and they all seem to be solutions for Operation Arrowhead, not ArmA II.

I have tried to verify both games, but the progress bar just gets stuck at 0% - no progress is made whatsoever, and I've waited a while for it to do so.

EDIT: I also run Steam as admin.

If someone could explain to me the REGEDIT fix in english I could try that, everywhere I've looked it's not made sense to me.

If anyone needs anything else please ask, I'm desperate to get this fixed.

seems stupid to ask but have you tried running arma 2 OA outside steam on singleplayer? that worked for me once.
