Bizarre 5 Posted January 11, 2013 I plan on building my own pc soon, and afterwards getting Arma 2, and downloading DayZ. Can anyone give me tips on what to do as a beginner, and most importantly what not to do?After reading some forum posts, and watching several videos, I've learned a few things: Stay out of Cherno and Elektro, and don't trust anyone. It doesn't really give me high hopes of survival, but I'd like to stay a lone wolf anyway.Lastly if I'm first starting out, where can I find weapons and ammo? fathairybeast 246 Posted January 11, 2013 Don't waste your time on Public Hives. If you do, live out of your pack (no tents, vehicles, etc.) and abort as soon as you hear the word "hacker" on side chat.Find good weapons and ammo in barracks / heli crashes. I don't even mess around with weapons in towns any more.Always keep at least 1 morphine auto-injector on you at all times. Always keep at least 2 bandages on you at all times.play on the Balota Buddies private hives. Too many benefits to list. Easily the most expansive private community among American/Australian/UK servers. Click on my sig and go to the whitelist section. The whitelisting process is intensive in order to keep hackers out. Zombiecore 6 Posted January 11, 2013 Fellow lone wolf here, a sniper of old ages. Want my advice? Get in and run as hard as you can straight into Cherno, show the world you have balls, want good loot and guns? Kill someone for them. Rub it in their face, and troll them on side chat if you can. More advice? You shoot anything that moves and until someone is on a skype call with you and has helped raise your first born dont trust em, dont look at em twice, just shoot to kill. Build yourself a camp far north, near the coast line and travel down it daily to kill again. Also side note, go ahead and build your PC ready for the stand alone and newer games...that means 600 series graphics card if you use Nvidia, a CPU with 3.3 ghz to start with no overclock, and good cooling unit for said CPU, and a full tower case to keep things cool. And one hell of a good mouse, dont want to be blaming Lag on all your deaths and missed kills now do we? :P
Bizarre 5 Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks, I wasn't expecting anyone to be that helpful.I'm guessing hacking must be pretty common on DayZ?
fathairybeast 246 Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks, I wasn't expecting anyone to be that helpful.I'm guessing hacking must be pretty common on DayZ?Out of control on public servers. Hence, why I gave up on them and joined the BB community. Never went back. Well, not entirely true. BB hosts 1 public server as well and I go on a rampage on there occasionally. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted January 11, 2013 If you find a well run private hive then hacking needn't be an issue at all.

morgan32 403 Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks for the help, I'll probably give BB a try.Balota Buddies are one of the best servers you'll find. It got certain requirements that you have to hit tho, so read before registering.

nikiller 122 Posted January 11, 2013 hi,I suggest you to play alone at start to learn how to survive by yourself. Learn ArmA controls and get used to "bugs".If you are lone wolf you will have to play very slow. Always check and double check. Take your time, analyse the situation since you have noone to watch your back. It's cool to be lone wolf but you can't make error or you will pay cash, i.e if a zombie break your legs or if you're unconscious you are in trouble, not dead but in trouble. Trust noone that's the rule number one i.e if someone says "hey guys there's an heli crash near this village" be very careful it's maybe a noob trap. Practice PvP even if you don't like that, it will help you to defend yourself if you need. That's all I can think ATM.When you are used to the game join a group/clan you will have more fun.cya.Nikiller.

IcyZ 295 Posted January 12, 2013 Dont trust fresh spawns.Don kill em if they are unarmed, but get the fuck away as soon as you can,if they ask to run with you shoot em in the leg, cause they WILL kill you when they find a weapon.Do NOT go on marked choppers, cars, camps, etc. They will be there, with lots of flies around, and a bullet just for your head.Never ask for blood transf or morphine, they will know you are in deep shit, and easier to kill.As others said, find a priv hive and play.I havent tried BB's yet but i've heard they're good, myself im playing with my clan on xs4all severs and now we started on a really good server on lingor, filter: 16th Infantry Regiment-1stID ,the guys that host the server are really nice, and the community is goodNow,about loot spawns, the whole map is a spawn area.when you first spawn you'll be south,if you;re south west try to sneak in balota's af and then the tents,if you're lucky you'll get an ak.By all means, avoid Elektro/Cherno if you're alone, zombies and players will destroy you.Just head north, moving through the trees, with the road always on sight, just in case a car passes and you have a clear shot.Loot barns for shotguns, and then move in Novy/Stary area. It's hot,but hiding saves.Hide for a while close to the tents and wait to see whats going on.You'll be able to spot snipers changing spots to get a good shot in the tents, and you'll see players going in for the loot, and zombies will show you where the noobs are coming from.Wait for the fight to start, spot where the campers are exactly and move in when there is only one winner, and take him. He'll prolly be already injured,so you kill->loot->leave,Then you can head north,to challenge your luck,or start roaming the woods for a hidden camp,or move in small cities to get food, water and zombie kills.in priv hives, dont start killing A LOT unless you want every skilled bandit on your ass, just to prove that he is still "the best".If you have friends that play the game try to team up since its gonna be usefull for blood transf, covering fire and zombie control.joining a clan is fairly easy, just try to find one that has your play style,or you'll get bored.remember, dying is not an option
Gator Biggs 22 Posted January 12, 2013 6 weeks on and I'm yet to kill or be killed by another survivor.how have you managed that? 6 weeks without killing is feasible, but without being capped or sniped?
