Meeshe 170 Posted January 11, 2013 Hi all, bought Arma 2: CO today and am downloading now off of steam. Ive decided to use DayZ commander since it seems the easiest way to install DayZ and find servers, and all. Steam has 3 things to download: Arma 2, Arma 2 OA, and Arma 2 beta. I thought DayZ commander found and DL'd all the beta stuff so Im wondering..should I download and install the beta from steam or let DayZ commander take care of it? If I DL the beta will it mess with DayZ commander and its installation? Sorry if this is a really dumb question but Im a little confused as to what to do, since I wasnt expecting the Arma 2 beta software from steam. Thanks, I cannot wait to start playing :)
SmashT 10907 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) I don't have OA beta installed on steam, DZC does it all. Just tick the 'Replace with OA beta files so steam works' in DZC settings. I don't think it really matters either way though. Edited January 11, 2013 by smasht_AU
Meeshe 170 Posted January 11, 2013 @ smasht_AU Thank You, Ill just bypass the steam install and let DayZ commander take care of it all. I appreciate the answer. boneboys 7988 Posted January 11, 2013 Let me just say that the Steam beta system is working and always has the last default /recommended beta, not necessarily the latest release. This is all part of the preparation for SA realease and the Steam digital distribution, so using the Steam system to download updates is in someway helping out for the future.Just saying.
Sula 1205 Posted January 11, 2013 That's a good point, Boneboys. I have never once managed to get steam to update dayz/arma, so I am little concerned. I don't even use steam to play anymore because I find it almost impossible due to all the glitches and error messages. Is there a good place to read how to do this and guarantee I'm doing it right? Thanks.

Meeshe 170 Posted January 11, 2013 Good to know everything will work, downloading the steam beta or not. Find a way to screw up an installation and Ill find it, the hard way. Knowing the steam beta plays nice with DayZ commander is a relief Thanks all.
