I hate walking dead the series....

I think that zombies were incredibly popular well before the walking dead comics were written. I think that dayz would have happened regardless. I think that inferring that a zombie tv show, that admittedly did very well, is directly responsible for the allowing the inception of DayZ is just pure conjecture, and wrong at that.

There have been zombie books/films/etc/etc/etc forever. Saying that because the people you worked with knew very little about zombies before Walking Dead is proof that the Walking Dead brought it to the masses is pure fallacy.

Ok. I respect that. And yes, polling my friends at work is not statistically significant but I would refer you to TV ratings for the show.

You have to admit zombies have always been a niche/cult market. I shouldn't have made my statement as fact you are right, moreover, I would like to know what side others come down on. Maybe I'll start a new thread on it.

The reason why i think people say that the game is better than the T.V show is that, in the game YOU are the one interacting with the story,YOU can choose how to interact with the characters etc.

The comics, the game and the T.V show are all briliant (in my opinion) in there own ways.

And I really want to get a crossbow that I can upgrade, like add a torch(flashlight) etc..... and I can get my ammo back :-)

You CAN get your ammo back, just have to find it on the ground/etc.

Why a torch though?

Anywhoot, standalone will give us a quiver to stash bolts into. I'm hoping for a little more crossbow love, as in at least two varieties and possibly being able to make your own bolts.

Also think they should be more rare, any idea what an export crossbow costs? More than any of the assault rifles in this game.

But I agree, I watch the Walking Dead, and then can't wait for the Standalone so I can play relatively similar.

Yea, not to burst your bubble, but you and I need to face the fact it's never going to be "relatively similar" with how painfully different zombies in the two installations behave.

Do I prefer slow masses over sprinting loners? Yes.

Does it have a lobby between the elitist "When I started playing, you spawned with broken legs and there was no morphine!" and the "zombies are only supposed to distract my victims" pvp enthusiasts? No.

Would I make a version with slow zombies if the standalone had a proper modding API? Yes, but that's as likely as BI calling me for a job.

I can say I don't watch it, followed first season and thought it was good, but too much drama and not enough zombie killing.

I will wait for it to finish and then buy the box set. that way I can have a Walking Dead marathon.

No, in regards to playing the game, minus the zombies, you can sort of emulate the experience.

On the mod it doesn't feel anything a like, but with the heavy heavy overhaul on the game engine, and graphics for the SA I think it will come close.

But other than dreaming of what we hardly will get, the changes brought with SA look amazing.
