Prestige Trophies - Spoils of War

Here's the idea. For every so many kills/heals/zombie kills you get you earn a visual object for your character.

Say for bandits for every 10 players they kill they add an ear to their ear necklace. Then for every 5 ears they get, the 5 ears are replaced with a finger. This would encourage bandits to seek out other players and be more bandit-like.

For Survivors you could have this based on like every 25 zombies they kill they get some other reward, then for every 5 of those rewards they get something else.

For Heroes I would suggest basing it on the number of good deeds, where bandages, morphine, etc are worth like 1 deed and blood and antibiotics are worth 3 deeds, then for every 40 deeds they perform they get something visual that then when they get 5 of those switches to something else.

None of these things would give any benefit to the player.

All trophies would reset upon death.

I support the taking of body parts as trophies or mementos - but only because I think it can add a interesting layer to story telling and environmetal awarness.

DayZ is a sandbox, many players like the bandit lifestyle, I see no harm in letting players who choose to, to gather trophies from their victims - but it should not be an automated thing. If you have a hunting knife you should be able to take a ear or finger (or whatever). It should not be limited to just players you have killed - but any player corps you have come across.

If you have no scruples about killing people and taking their ears, I don't see why honesty (in terms of bragging rights) should be a problem :) .

Of course there needs to be ballance. If you can maim a dead player for kicks, you should also be able to pay them respect. Be by covering their face with a jacket or making them a marked grave. I have read of (and been the victim of) appologetic killers, who through paranoia or supprise feel forced to kill.

How can this add story?

It could add story if, when you inspect a body, you can see evidence of what another player may have done to them - and in turn, depending if the bodies were treated with contempt or respect can give you an idea of the type of players in the area.

If you allow giving a generic part, people will start killing just for the necklace chain (which will happen in real life as well). Still no to that idea.

Maybe a stats screen to show your current kills/headshots (much like the Debug monitor) but not in this format, nein.

I like Hoik's point though, dealing humanely with a human corpse or molesting it in some way is certinly a + or a - on the humanity bar
