Hopeless n00b!

Well just got this game today and got it all setup and the first servers i entered i spawned in the middle of the sea and when i got to land i got beaten to death and then eaten by zombies! This happen twice i really have no clue what im doing and really need some people that have patience to team up with and help a hopeless n00b get to grips with this game.

Any takers?

Yes lol i spawned twice in the middle of the sea on my first ever games took me about 10 minutes to swim to land at which point zombies ran at me and beat me to death LOL welcome to DayZ. :D

in the sea is a normal spawn just outside otmel i been there a few times when i first started

Well my first task is to make it more than 10ft without getting beaten to death! LOL The problem is remembering the control keys as i'm not a pc gamer and there are soooo many to remember also no idea how to get rid of that annoying motion blur effect.

Motion blur. Turn off head bob or something like that. I hatez it, too.

turn post processing effects off in the graphic settings and turn down head bob in game settings

lol thanks erm planning? The spawns were random and i died as soon as i got to land i think surviving more than 2 minutes would make it more enjoyable but i guess as nobody is interested in helping inworld i'll just have to die alot and either figure it out or delete the game in defeat lol.

when you spawn in the bottom corner it tells you the town you are closer too if you press x you will crouch run and it will be harder for the zeds to see you press shift to walk slowly and z to crawl when you are crawling its next to impossible for the zeds to see you if they start to come after you press c to stand up and double press w and hold to sprint head for the woods and zig zag in and out of the trees after a while you will lose them or if you see a building with an entrance and a separate exit run through that like a barn or something they can only walk in doors so you should be able to lose them

i have a private hive server trying to meet up with new people like me

Well after a night of playing my first day in DayZ went like this:

1st Spawn:Spawned in the sea swam to land got attacked by zombies and died.

2nd Spawn:Spawned in the sea swam to land got attacked by zombies and died again.

3rd Spawn: Spawned on land by the coast went to some houses crouch walked everywhere got attacked by zombies and died.

4th Spawn: Spawned on land saw a helicopter crash went to investigate found nothing got eaten alive by zombies.

5th Spawn: Spawned on land went to investigate a village found nothing but knifes got attacked by zombies managed to escape had to bandage myself but lost a lot of blood went to some multi level concrete car park style building and bumped into another new guy called bally who was also very close to death.

So we went to find blood so we could heal our self's sadly some n00b decided since he had a gun and saw us he was going to try and kill me even though i was unarmed and shouting "I'm friendly" on voice he hit me which started me bleeding again and bally shot at him with his handgun which scared the cowardly n00b away then bally bandaged me again and we continued to look for blood by this point i was too sick to continue as i kept passing out every 30 seconds or so so bally went looking for blood nearby while i stayed hidden, somehow bally had broken his leg and died from his injuries and shortly after i succumbed from my many injuries also and died.

This games learning curve is something like being hit in the face with a sledge hammer. lol

You goal at this point is to not die and to find a hatchet. Once you find a hatchet, pick it up, open your inventory, right click on the hatchet, select 'remove from toolbelt". Now you can learn how to use a hatchet. Swing away.

I'm gonna be playing tomorrow from noon onwards and then maybe later that night as well. If it's in-game company you're after I'd be more than happy to help (in what little way I can). Got some minor supplies together and we can both scavenge for more. Us noobs have got to stick together. I'll let you know what server I'm on, if your interested

Update:

Well afew days on i'm getting pretty good at this game i can hold my own i'm no sniper ace but i can get around pretty well and i've learn most things about how to play the game and i can tell you the main reason i was dying alot before was cause i didn't know how to walk and i was running everywhere which agro'd every zombie which then chased me and without weapons i was screwed. lol

Had my first death due to a script kiddie after four hours of playing exploring and surviving when a script kiddie teleported right onto of me and shot me when i was out in the middle of nowhere. Also got spawn sniped instantly the second i spawned by some bandit snipers on sniper hill and died. /= lol

I do think there should be more military weapon random spawns in places other than the airfields though as the L33T players tend to have them tied down which gives others very little chance of getting weapons to have a fighting chance against the better players.

Oh and thanks to the random guy who ran upto to me without saying a word and fixed my broken leg after i had been sniped by bandits and then ran off without saying a word didn't steal anything either. :D

This is what makes Day Z so good. Eventually you will learn to survive. However you will make mistakes and pay for them but slowly you will get better and eventually have a camp and some supplies maybe even a vehicle or a bike. The bikes are alot of fun IMO.

Also, try using DayZCommander to find servers if you aren't already.

It also let's you play on other maps and stuff like that.

While using DayZCommander and typing Private Hive in the search bar it will make you find servers that are not connected to the main hive and will reduce the chance of being killed by hackers or people that relog on popular spots to check them on every server.

Or even better, try to find a server where you need to be whitelisted on, on those servers it's even rarer to get killed by hackers.

Have fun, a few weeks of playing and you survive like a pro.
