Buying a new graphics card

Recommended Posts

I want to buy a new graphics card around 70 for Day Z However, is it worth it to buy it for just this one game. I already have a PS3 and probably won't play many other games on the PC. What do you guys think?

DayZ(really Arma 2) is more CPU dependent than GPU IIRC. $70 wont get you much in the way of superior graphics performance anyway.

Unless you're going to make the switch to PC and are willing to drop ~500 or more then don't bother. Wait for a DayZ clone to come out on the PS3 / 4 as there'll probably be one eventually.

I'd agree with this as I recently upgraded to a XFX DD 7950 from a 5770. For £200 I got a very minor performance increase at 1080p but in all other games I play the improvement was vast. When I upgrade the CPU to an i7-3770k I expect a significant peromance improvement for the £400 I'll spend on it (New mobo too).

Can i ask if you plan to do any editing if not dont bother with the 3770k as multi threading is no used in many if ant games at the moment you will be just fine with a 3570k

It's for many reasons really.

1) I have the money available to spare at the moment.

2) I do plan on rendering HD videos.

3) I won't be able to upgrade again for a considerable time so I'll get the best I can with my current budget.

Were it not for these reasons then I'd certainly go with the i5-3570k.
