Recommended Posts

Well i have been playing the ever so wonderful HackZ i mean warz since the release and blah blah whatever im just done with the hackers and was thinking of moving my a$$ over this way.But before i do i was just wondering how the hacking situation is on this side...Can me and my friends enjoy this game for hrs without dieing every 2 mins by some guy miles away or pulling a peterpan and flying over our heads.I know no game is hacker free but if you have played warz you know its the most hacked game on the planet..How is this

If you play on a whitelist or password protected private hive server (check the private hive subforum for servers and people's opinions on them) you really won't have many issues with hackers.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Balota Buddies servers. Been meaning to check them out for a while myself.

^ Yeah, while the main hive does have a fair bit of hackers, groups like Balota Buddies whitelist you and check your GUID and stuff to make sure you haven't hacked before. After that you can enjoy not having any hackers around ;)

Basically hacking was really bad in DayZ at one point but that was a while ago now. Many people opened private servers, I'd reccomend spending a bit of time finding a good one then you won't have to worry about hackers at all.

Most people despise when others openly advertise servers here but Im shameless so im going to drop some knowledge on you. Once you get the game go over to balotabuddies.net sign up, get whitelisted, and voilà no more worrying about script kiddies. Bring your friends. Thank me later.

Sounds great! Welcome to game! The game is the most fun when you just start and have no idea what's going on. :D

Let us know if you and your friends have any issues installing and getting up and running.

In regards to public vs private hives, I played for months and months on the normal public hive servers. I've since switched to a private hive (Balota Buddies, coincidentally), and have yet to see any type of hacking going on there.

There are pluses and minuses to each kind. Public hive servers allow you to jump around to different servers if you want to be on at a specific time of day (ingame), and your gear will carry over. Private hives are singular in that if you chose to go between a couple of different ones, your gear is individually saved to each server. When you join a new Private hive, you start the game with just the beginig gear (which may be different depending on how the private hive admins have set things up). Private hives might change the loot tables (what goodies spawn where) and add extra buildings or vehicles which you may or may not want. As stated above, the chance of running into hackers on private hives is greatly reduced, especially to ones that whitelist your GUID (game id code) prior to letting you on.

Also, we give out beans as a form of forum reputation, so if you dig someone's post, or they've been helpful, click the "You have my beans!" button on the lower right hand side of their post.

I think you guys will find this game alot different than The WarZ.

i think for now if the hacking isn't bad we will stick to public just for the fact we like to be on our own ts rather then on ts with a big bunch of ppl,but will prolly to both eventually.I'm sure we will have a blast

nooooooooo don't go public!

There are alot of other whitelisted servers you don't need to be on their TS and just be with your buddies on TS like zombies.nu, public is no fun to play if you're a legit player.

Join as many private hive servers as you like! You don't have to just stick with one.

Go to the Private Hive Discussion Forum to see them, as that's where the "adverts" go. I'm helping out at balota buddies hive as a moderator temporarily, and as you'd expect I do recommend it but seriously, I recommend all the ones I've tried. Well almost. There was one that had a 16 year old crapbag for an admin, thanks to mummy and daddy's credit card, who killed me for a magazine of ammo but apart from that many of them are great. Check out the comments.

Agreed, it's really just a case of trying a few. It can be confusing when you're new but once you find a server to call home the fun begins.

Hi folks, I represent 3 friends new to Dayz looking for a server to call home. None of us know how to get "whitelisted" but we'd sure love to try out the kind of server I see folks talking about here. My skype id is Halander2011. Please hit me up. Thank you so much.
