Ratsmon 131 Posted January 2, 2013 I'm realy scared of thinking that I spent the money for nothing, and this may be a stupid question, but based on my research I found out that hive is like some central intelligence database. If the SA comes out in a few weeks, does it mean that he will cancel the HIVE(s) and no servers will be able to exist anymore?TL;DR = When the SA comes out, will I be still able to play DayZ MOD on hundreds of other servers( As proven on gametracker.)? Will the DayZ Mod Servers be completely canceled and you will have no other choice but to buy the StandAlone itself?
freaky88 13 Posted January 2, 2013 yes you will be able to play, there will still be servers

Mos1ey 6301 Posted January 2, 2013 thats cool, im glad hes not abondining it, but i would also like SA to have high priority over the modThe mod will be pretty much handed over to the community, the guys who helped out with the last couple of updates will more than likely contribute. IMO it will probably mirror whatever changes are implemented in the foundation build (within the limits of ArmA 2, obviously) with whatever else the community feels like adding on top. Ratsmon 131 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) DayZ mod will continue to be supported and updated after the release of the foundation build. :)Man, you made a rock fall of my heart, I often panic over small things and this made me panic about me wasting money. Thanks for responding that quickly. Best forum team is on this forum! :oThe mod will be pretty much handed over to the community, the guys who helped out with the last couple of updates will more than likely contribute. That's 4 games I have now!(4th is Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead Demo!) :D Edited January 2, 2013 by Ratsmon
lvg 1690 Posted January 2, 2013 The majority of the servers are now privately hosted meaning even if the official hive went offline there would still be servers.
Play (DayZ) 123 Posted January 2, 2013 To be honest these community releases are looking very good!
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) I'm looking forward to seeing what the community devs do with the mod. I'd imagine once Arma 3 is out and stable they'll port alot of what they do into that engine. Edited January 3, 2013 by Fraggle

Sula 1205 Posted January 2, 2013 I thought the official hive was offline. I can't find any servers.

Mos1ey 6301 Posted January 2, 2013 I thought the official hive was offline. I can't find any servers.I haven't actually tried to play on the main hive for a long time so I wouldn't know, lol. If it is in fact still down I don't believe it's down for good and there are more than enough private hive servers to keep the mod alive after the release of the foundation build if it were to go down for good. :)
Never 237 Posted January 3, 2013 The number of community owned servers has always heavily outweighed the 'official' servers since very early on in the Mod history. DayZ mod will be around for a while, and will quite possibly end up being the DayZ StandAlones biggest competitor.
root 48 Posted January 3, 2013 DayZ mod will continue to be supported and updated after the release of the foundation build. :)Yes but who will play DayZ mod after DayZ SA releases? Currently DayZ mod is full of cheaters due to open engine and incompetent BE. That's the main braking point for me.This issue should be fixed in DayZ SA and once it's, I never look back unless cheating in DayZ mod will be taken care of somehow.
