Finally got the right computer... Should I wait?

I finally got the right computer to play dayz, quad core processor, 6.00GB, good graphics card, etc., but what I want to know is, should I wait until the standalone comes out? I realize they said it's about to come out, but they've been saying that for quite some time now. Should I wait for the standalone or just buy it now? If it's going to be another 6 months then I want to buy it now. Any suggestions?

Mid january or feb is apparently the release for the standalone, it's optimized better so your computer will work better in the standalone than in Arma 2

Curious for the actual specs though, explain?

the SA announcement was rushed, thinking War Z was going to be pulling in players. If it wasnt so fail, we would be playing the SA right now. But since it is bad, we could be looking at another 6 months.

I see these type threads frequently and my idea has changed over time. Since SA is unconfirmed we could be told tomorrow that it's coming out next week or it's coming out in two months.

Because of this I feel like it's mostly up to you OP. If you want to play more than just DayZ, like Arma itself or another mod for Arma, then I suggest you buy it. If however you only want it for DayZ, then I can't say whether or not you should get it.

I would say NO, because we dont exactly know, when the Standalone Game comes out.

At the moment, Arma 2 Combined Operations (Arma 2 + Arma 2 OA) is on Steam for about 15€ (20$ or something).

And if you dont have the 20 bucks for the game, then i ask u : Why u bought a PC for 600-100$ ? :D

They are apparently going to be two slightly different games, so if i were you i would get both. Its not expensive anyway :)

That 6gb of RAM is unfamiliar and usually marks a ripoff but like before, i'm curious.
