Sgt. Vanluven 4 Posted December 31, 2012 I've been in a few different servers where I know the admins. And they have admin tools, that allows them to do a lot of things that scriptors can do: Teleport, spawn anything they want, see other players on map, which direction their going, where they came from direction, and so on.I played for awhile on this server, where I know the admins abused these tools, and then would lie about it.Oh look, you have a 24 slot Coyote pack 5 mins after you just respawned... how lucky....So how are we going to police this?I just got into a discussion in side chat with several admins that were on, right after they told the whole server how many helicopters and what types where on the server. They were flying to them all and dropping off the other "ADMINS" to them.I only stated that SOME admins have too many powers and abuse the game. and they all started arguing with me, about how much they die and they don't abuse their power.as the discussion progresses one of them says they should boot me.. lol Irony.I'm just wondering how the stand alone is going to handle this. Testwd3r235 2810 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) Arma II was built to run scripts, the DayZ SA won't. Simple answer but there will always be hackers/admin abusers in every game. Beans to people who can mention a multiplayer game that is hack free.Edit: Forgot the red part.. Edited December 31, 2012 by MacabreLlama99
SmashT 10907 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) While it's true some admins do, I see a lot of players assuming this is the case even when it's not.If you have reason to believe an admin is abusing their powers, play elsewhere but really an admin having a coyote backpack a few minutes after dying could easily be explained by a tent. Most of your complaints are only possible on private hives (database access) by the way.I don't know how the standalone is going to do things but if the hive is controlled by the devs then most of those won't be possible however no matter what limited control you allow server admins over their server, it will always be open to abuse, kicking/Banning at the most basic for example. SmashT 10907 Posted December 31, 2012 Okay well, I was referring to how the Standalone is going to handle abusing admins, not hackers.I haven't really seen many games come up with an effective solution other then managing all the servers themselves.

Vincenzo (DayZ) 97 Posted December 31, 2012 I think that player owned servers should stay, with power to ban (local ban). But if abused > refund and ur server will be canceld.Private hives should be forbiddin. Just my opinion, takes away the most fun of DayZ.\About hackers: Hackers don't stay long in DayZ, they will last a few hours if lucky. They'll get global ban pretty fast with BE. Haven't seen them in a while.
jdz (DayZ) 238 Posted December 31, 2012 There are a lot admins that don't do this and I want to do a shout out to them!

bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted December 31, 2012 "side chat"Private servers can't be policed, there's no side chat on the servers that are supposed to follow rules.Don't play on private servers and then complain about abusive admins.
DMC14 46 Posted December 31, 2012 and paid for by...?Well when they take our money for the stand alone they can pay for it out of there own pocket. Same way Dice does it for BF3 they still run a few servers of their own in a few countries. stupid question.
joeoblong@yahoo.com 614 Posted December 31, 2012 If you have a problem with private hives ,play public. If you have a problem with the admins, don't play on their server. This is easily remedied. I'd rather it be a dirty admin over a dirty player (hacker), with the admin I can just leave, with a hacker they can follow.
vonlinchen 26 Posted January 1, 2013 Short answer, yes.My friends & I recently started playing again, we tried a few different servers but in the end an admin would always ruin it for us. Either by banning us for killing them or using admin maps to find & steal all our shit or teleporting around the map to kill us.We eventually decided to setup our own server and its doing very well. Have had alot of positive feedback (and no negative) about our admin team, so apparently this is a wide spread problem :/PS: spell check doesn't know the word "teleporting" , I lol'd
