Fix Hide Body

Recommended Posts

Sinking into the ground just looks stupid, Maybe a Spade would be interesting to bury the body or a saw to dismember it so it cant be identified or the cause of death cant be found

Yeah. Spade to bury someone is quite fair.

It should also take about a minute to bury someone as people mostly use it to grief others - shoot someone, run up, check for loot, hide the body with everything else in a bit of a second, run away before anyone else can do something.

I don't think a bury or burn mechanic will ever be implemented in the game. Would you really waste precious time or fuel doing either of these?

What I would love to see is a well implemented carry/ drag body mechanic that allows corpses to be hidden in bushes and buildings. This also allows for some hilarious emergent gameplay like writing a massive SOS in zombie/player corpses for helis to spot or marking the perimeter of your camp with dead players as a warning to others.

Well you would if someone good dies. It's quite immersive and easy to implement (just several additional lines of code to "hide body" function and one animation). Also it fixes the issue I highlighted.

And yeah, carrying wounded incapacitated or dead ones is a must have for such game.

There should be a massive drop in your walking speed though. I don't want carrying someone's dead body to the coast for your buddy to requip from to be an option. Perhaps their bag and their primary weapon gets dropped automatically if you pick them up?

Spade should be in tool belt to bury bodies leaving no trace or flies.

You should also be able to drag body but flies follow body.

The option to add a cross or grave stone with ability to add some words to the grave stone would be cool.

Nah, it should depend on what they were holding at the time of death.

Backpack would stay on, it ain't like they'd take it off.

If they had their primary equipped, that'd fall on the ground but the secondary would stay in holster, and vice versa. (with the primary slung over their shoulder)

The entrenching tool is already a part of DayZ, but it is pretty much useless.

The option to bury corpses would give it more value IMO.

Burning bodies should also be an option, since you can't dig holes in concrete, and sometimes you need to cover your tracks.

Burnt corpses would still be visible, but unrecognisable, unlootable and without the sound of flies.

If zeds were attracted to, and ate dead bodies, there would be more reason to dispose of them in proximity to important locations.

I don't want a horde at my camp because some dead bandits are stinking up the place.
