How do I become a Hero?

I am on my way to becoming a hero and I wanted to know about any tips or info on helping myself and others on our path to heroism. I understand that transfusing blood 20 times or giving 250 painkillers, bandages, or morphine will project you to 5000 humanity or hero status. Please provide alternate methods that are legit.

Healing others

• 20 humanity points will be received for using a bandage to stop another player's bleeding.
  
• 250 humanity points will be received for using a blood bag to give another player a blood transfusion.
  
• 50 humanity points will be received for using morphine to heal another player's fractured or broken bones
  
• 20 humanity points will be received for using painkillers to relieve another player's pain.
  

These are the only ways to gain humanity.

Best thing to do is stick with a teammate or crew of people. Performing all of that medical assistance on strangers will take forever. Keeping well-stocked on medical supplies and healing your buddies through the course of normal play will find you in a hero skin before you know it.

Don't kill people for starters. Play on low pop servers with friends whom you can perform medical assistance on when needed

The best way to make sure you're always working towards "Hero" status is to find some friendlies to trek with.

Having someone to watch your back will help in most situations, and keeping your buddies healthy will keep you in the good books.

Rossums quoted the wiki, but I'm sure, when we still had a debug menu, killing Zeds who were attacking other players was seen as a positive action.

Killing bandits doesn't lower your standing, neither does killing someone who shot you first.

I have a Little Bird that I have been fixing up and I plan on doing good samaritan stops if I can see that survivors are unarmed.

Don't kill suvivors.

It will go up over time if you do not kill anyone.

Blood bag.

Kill bandits.

Morphine or Epi-Pen.

Bandage people.

Humanity only regenerates up to 2500. You have to work at being a hero.

There is no way to check your humanity level except the clothes you wear.

If you were able to see your humanity through some kind of monitor or debug window then you were on a private server with who knows what other rules applied.
