Whoa. Camo skin?

Recommended Posts

I was looking for some mods to do a little singleplayer in Arma 2 today, and one caught my eye. It was a mod called Asr camo skin or something like that. (It's in the downloads section of Armaholic.com, under addons, under misc, and then it's on the first page.)

The mod description told me that it would unlock 600 extra character face skins that were in the vanilla (unmodified) Arma 2 files. (you know, whenever you're customizing your character in the Arma 2 menu's? Yeah, those skins.) I thought that was pretty cool, so I downloaded it and installed it. It was a regular install, no .EXE's or installers, plus it was from armaholic so I wasn't worried about it being a CD key stealer. Then I went and tested it out.

It worked. I went to customize my character, and now there were six variants of each face skin, each with similar, but slightly different camos.

I wondered if it would work in multiplayer. I knew that most servers would kick me out for using mods that weren't being used by the server itself, so I uninstalled the camo face mod. Fortunately, because the camo skins were from regular arma 2, my face stayed camo and I didn't get into any trouble whatsoever.

So now I've got myself a nice camo face. But just to be sure, is this alright? I mean, my face is camo. I'm just thinking it might give me an unfair advantage.

Choosing a black man gives the exact same advantage imo (not being racist for those that might think it), looks nice though. It seems like it should be OK, if not I'm sure you would have encountered a script restriction of some sort by now if it was forbidden.

I never thought about that actually. But yeah, the camo skins are actually already in Arma 2, so that's why there's no script restriction.
