Bin config...MPTable.shadow error giving me grief

Yes, I am having this error "bin\config.bin/CfgInGameUI/MPTable.shadow" followed by "error compiling pixel shader PSSpecular Alpha:0" when I try to load Operation Arrowhead.

I've been googling how to fix it with no luck. The fixes seem to be all intended for Steam, where as I am using the verison GOG.com

I haven't even attempted to install DayZ yet because I've yet to correct this one problem first.

edit - I am not sure why that sentence is highlighted..

did you have an addon that you moved out of your arma 2 oa directory before disabling it?

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago when I was goofing around with the mv-22 door gunner project.

Nope this my Arma II CO is brand new, I bought it yesterday, and started installing it then. Been dealing with a previous issue, hesitant to open the registry, but I got that fixed and then I have this new one.

I have no addons, mods etc installed for this yet. I was just doing the basic stuff to get ready before I tried ton install DayZ.

But I mentioned in my first post that I am not using the steam version.

I am using the Good Old Games version.

You can still do the launch options thing. Right click on the short cut (it has to be a shortcut. If you don't have one, find the arma 2 oa folder and find thje Arma2oa exe and create a shortcut) for Arma 2 oa. You should a text box with the word "target" beside it. Put -mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\ArmA 2;EXPANSION;ca after all of the text in the box and save. after that, try running the game.

But why does it have to be steam apps? Its not connected with steam at all.

I also have it saved in c drive, under a folder called "Games".

I must be doing it rong, I've tried with my folder, but it still won't find it.

I feel kinda stupid I was rewriting it to basically what you just told me before I made that post - actually before I checked back I did figure it out, I was deleting a slash or something by accident, just kept did it till it worked.

Anyway now I am just waiting for GOG support to give me a new CD key, mine didn't work.

Then I shall go ahead and try to get DayZ going.. hopefully no problems.

Got a new. I installed DayZ commander, installed DayZ, and I am sure I got the beta patch for Arma 2, since I updated Arma 2 to the latest version through commander.

But -

Connecting to a DayZ server gives me this error

and then it loads.. the game I guess, and gives me a nother bin error that I didn't write down.

So I can\t get into a server.

I guess it is the game screen that loads after I close the second bin error - I try to join a server through there and it says Battleeye initiation failed

You just have the worst luck with Arma 2 that I've ever seen in my life.

Have you tried joining any other servers?

Yes tried.

Joining servers gave me some sort of issue with battleeye

At work, so I'd have to double check when I am home as to exactly what it said.

God loading a server takes so long.

So playing I realize how bad I am at the game. I've watched videos online of other players. They just run buy zombies, run around zombies, and have a merry time, not caring when one or two hits them, they just lose them.

I crouch/walk and a zombie off and away runs about and starts beating on me, and I cannot for the life of me run away from him. This is on the coast where you spawn.\

I've found a hatchet twice, but keep dieing and losing them

Sweet, just send me a PM when you want and the server IP then we'll play. I'll see if I can figure out how to get teamspeak working (it's a program that allows constant voice chat).
