crockett (DayZ) 41 Posted December 15, 2012 (edited) Why is it we have Lee Enfield's & Winchester Rifles but we have no Mosin Nagant or no k98 Mauser Rifles? Not to mention even SKS's. This mod/game could really use a bit more love on the bolt action rifles and Mosin Nagant's & SKS's should be quite a bit easier to find in an ex soviet block country than a lee enfield.Granted a SKS isn't a bolt action , but it is a surplus gun all the same and there should literally be thousands of these guns floating around an ex soviet block country. I mean they are pretty damn common here in the US as imported surplus guns.Just a thought... Edited December 15, 2012 by crockett
BwobBwub 660 Posted December 15, 2012 Don't worry, more than likely there will be more weapons in the Standalone.
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted December 15, 2012 Perhaps the SA might correct the errors of the mod?Seriously though to me there are too many military weapons in the mod as it is. allow us to make our own. shov-ham-shears-spike for a melee weapon against zeds! Pvt. Kairis 14 Posted December 15, 2012 since it used guns also from Operation Arrow head (which uses the Lee Enfield) then no suprise, although yeah more low tech weapons please

The guns I mentioned with exception of the SKS were used in WW2, but all the soviet block countries and even non soviet block countries had stock piles of thousands upon thousands of these guns and their ammo. These guns were extremely cheap to mass produce and as a result, they were mass produced by large amounts and and stockpiled as a simple weapon system that could be easily used by presents & farmers until the AK47 became cheap enough to take their place and nations had standing armies.Even today you can go to just about any gun show in the US and buy a Mosin Nagant for about $100 US dollars. Their prices are starting to creep up today, so where a few years ago they might of cost about $80, where as today maybe closer to $120 but that is extremely cheap for a military grade large cal rifle.IE it means they should still be very easy to find else where such as Chernos.. Edited December 16, 2012 by crockett
boneboys 7988 Posted December 16, 2012 The Mosin Nagant should defiantly be there...Oh well back to RO for my bolt fix.
PracticalTactical 164 Posted December 16, 2012 I think there should be more civilian weaponry added. Things like over under shotgun/rifle combo, single barrel shotguns, bolt action rifles and so fourth. Mosin is a common rifle and would fit well in dayz. Lee Enfield is a common rifle in baltic/middle east actually so maybe keep the lee enfield aswell.
-Gews- 7443 Posted December 16, 2012 (edited) The only reason the Lee Enfield is in Dayz is because no one bothered to change it. It was a Takistani militia weapon in Operation Arrowhead which mimicked the mujahideen's use of the Lee Enfield.Commander Tsarenwal Sher Habib of Paghman reported that his forces contained some 800 mujahideen, possessing 'ZGU-1s, DShKs, many RPG-7s, PK machine guns, 82 mm mortars, 82mm and 75mm recoilless rifles, machine guns, and a number of .303 bolt-action Lee Enfield rifles'. While generally disparaged due to its age, the .303 Lee Enfield had double the range of the AK and was able to penetrate a Soviet flak jacket.
