well hello.

i've just started playing dayz. obviously

this thread will serve as my "new here; can you answer my silly questions pls"

first off:

i know this is probably the worst newbie question ever buuuut

is there a run command ooooorrrrr... am i just to wander around slowly and hope i don't get cornered haha

i feel so ridiculous asking this but scanning over the controls list does not seem to be helping at all

You can't find a key for it because you run by default. You may have accidentally double-tapped the 'shift' key - that will keep you from running. Try double-tapping it again.

Try double tapping shift, W or click the right mouse button as the zoom can get stuck sometimes forcing you to walk.

Basically what they said. You are set to a jogging pace by default. I order to walk you can either hold down shift, double tap shift to toggle walking, or look down the sights of your gun by right clicking.

Therefore, if you're stuck walking, double tap shift to attempt to un-toggle walking. For the looking down your sights, the game doesn't deal with you right clicking with no gun very well. You may very well be "looking down your sight" without anything visibly changing on your screen, but you're stuck walking. Try single clicking your right click a few times. If that doesn't work, try relogging into the server. Worst case, you'll have to sprint everywhere (double tap 'w') until you find a gun to sort our your zooming.
