Suggestion that may stop deathmatching.( Spotting for data view )

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i think the majority dont want dayZ to be a deathmatch.

How to stop it would be to find out the reason why, why do a sniper shoot someone in the face 500m(example) away.?

there could be many reasons ofcourse.

1) he likes being mean,

2) he wants his stuff/vehicle

3) he poses a threat to him or his squad (unlikely to him 500m away)

4) Because he can.

Im going to talk about (4) because he can...

I have myself had a few incidents i shot someone because i could. maybe because i had never before shot someone with that weapon in particular, it made me a bandit but i did it only to see if i could.

people like to shoot someone because they can, to shoot someone to let them know you were there and you were watching them. otherwise how will anyone know that you are there and that you are good? ("good" can ofcourse be discussed(as in stealth or accuracy)).. Or just being in the right place at the right time.. If not then excuse my terms of being good.

This suggestion may not be good for the immersion, but dont forget this is a game and its not real. and must be put to a certain degree of reality to make the gaming experience better.. If nto you could aswell go out in your rusty car, find a wheel, put it on and eat some beans right?

So to the point of this post:

I suggest post logout spotting data, when you DIE or when you log out from the server. In the lobby you can see who spotted you and with what kind of weapon or if not a weapon at all. They can push any desired key they chose for spotting.

this will let your enemy know that you saw him and that maybe you had the chance to take him down but you gave him mercy.

Maybe some lifes could be spared afterall :)

I tried to make a post via mobile but it got deleted. Simply put, no. The only true way to avoid deathmatching is to remove PvP completely, and no one will go for that. If you want to avoid deathmatching, use stealth and stay away from high traffic areas.

A player will always kill another player, because that is their choice. That is what makes DayZ great and I hope they also do away with experimental bandit skins, humanity, etc. Those things do nothing for the game play, and I will continue to play the game how I want to play it regardless of what "consequences" they decide to put on me.

This suggestion is no different then the otherwise unpopular "kill cam" threads. Like the previous posted above me, stop whining and play the game. Please let these "kill cam" threads die already.

I like how you think i ever drag this suggestion out of recent activity :P

When you play the game a bit more you will understand my point :)

Point is you essentially want a kill cam. Or an ability to see where your assailant was/is.

The game is merciless in when you are dead..

Your dead. You don't get a replay of your death, or any indication of how you died. Cept those stupid servers that broadcast what you were killed by.

Yeah, we don't need this. The only purpose it serves is to let baddies try and get the drop on people who out-played them in the first place.

Well youre not supposed to out-play someone or get a drop on them,

your supposed to survive in a cruel infected world...

Its not a kill-cam im talking about, its a way of replacing the mindless deathmatch killing you can get in your COD games or whatever with something of the same feeling of "besting" someone just not killing them.

Are you serious? Out-playing someone, not what you're supposed to do? There is NO mission to this game, it is entirely up to the player on what they want to do.

If a player wants to run around playing doctor, they can. If a player wants around playing body guard, they can. If a player wants to run around playing sniper in the bell tower, they can. That is what the game is about, it's what you as the player want to do. Only way to remove "mindless deathmatching" is to remove PVP altogether, which just won't happen.

Also, I guess I didn't understand what you meant at first... but now I have a better understanding (I think) I am even more urged to say no. That is the most pointless data ever.

Jo-schmo looked at me with an M16.

Billy J looked at me with a hatchet.

Who cares?

If you didn't see a player, then that is your fault. You shouldn't be awarded with any data?

Cruel infected world? It's only as cruel as the people in it.

If people are killing you and you have no idea where from you're leaving way too many open sight-lines.

If anything, it would just make you look like an idiot saying,"I could have killed you, but I DIDN'T!!!!!!!! FEEL BAD!!!!!!!"

No one would use it, and many people would kill just for the laughs of having someone say,"I SPAAAAAAARED YOUOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!"

I agree at all this. when are they learn to just accept the emotional negative when u die in this game. learn to hide yourself. play with people u know to have friends. i only play dayz becase that its sandbox i can play how i want. i will always play how i do. i dont care what crying peoples say. if its so much changed for standalone with COD killcam or scope shine or spotting etc i cant play fun like this, i will not buy it even. the game experence is already very good for they who like dayz.. u dont like it? its not the game for u !

I'm reading this more as not having consequences of sniping people rather than the actual act of killing. There's a steady progression to a "character" in dayz: get food, get gear, survive, get better gear and if you survive long enough you get the best gear ie. weapons. But there's no consequences to running around with a 15kg high powered sniper rifle and 10kg of bullets for that rifle just so you can shoot noobs in Elektro.

Having a really good stamina system will be the only real way of doing what you suggest, though even still a player can eventually make their way to Elektro with their high powered sniper rifle and bullets. Just because the item might be heavy doesn't mean a person cannot travel long distances with it. It might be slower than it is in the game but we still don't know what the developers are going to do in this department. It could be identical, it could be radically changed.. It's all up in the air.
