Change use of .50 cal Sniper Rifles

Biggest issue with the .50 cal anti-material rifles is that there are so many of them, particularly the AS50 only being used by US Navy SEAL teams..

Oddly enough for a former Soviet republic, you only get 2 rifles from that part of the world; a civilian hunting rifle (CZ 550 in a very rare calibre) and the ubiquitous SVD.

What's odd about the SVD is how rare it is considering the Soviets had one sniper per infantry squad and the NATO forces (until the recent Designated Marksman concept copied this) only had one sniper platoon per battalion.

Agree, should be more SVD's. I have never seen one in the game, either encountering one in a loot pile or seeing one used.

The current long range sniper kill distance record is held by a British team firing a .338 magnum Lapua cartridge, and hitting a target over 2400 meters distance.

.50 Caliber Sniper weapons can be fired from kneeling and standing, but not with any good accuracy. I honestly hate games that sway the sights when you're trying to aim, especially when you're in a supported firing position.

Also, M249 and M240B weight as much and more than a .50 and can be carried a long while. Soldiers do it every day, and a .50 Caliber Sniper rifle can be operated by one individual.

You should be able to fire it standing, but it should wobble around and have more recoil. Moving the weapon around while holding it in the firing position should also slow movement down.

just to throw it out there... this is a survival game with the concept that u are a survivor trying to survive the apocalypse.. and for normal people to run around with .50 cal snipers firing them with extreme accuracy standing and prone is kinda ridiculous unless u were a solider before the apocalypse... i think if they put in a skill three... one of these skills should be how to operate one of these rifles.

and the sniper did the shot twice! both hits, on different targets. Never the less .50 cal rifles have their advantages over the smaller calibers such as .308 and .338, the only thing that comes close to the stopping power of the ,50 cal snipers and penetration is the .408 cheytac.

"Washed up on the coast" suggests you have already been through the apocalypse somewhere else. The apocalypse or ANY kind of survival situation should get you into shape faster than any other.

If you take that people are not fit to run with a .50 cal, then take off helis, because almost knows how to fly one. It takes your 4 limbs to pilot one, its pretty damn hard, believe me. Not everyone knows how to ride a motorcycle, event being very simple.

After everything the guy is running with the rifle in his back.

Its a game... so stop whinning.
