Murphyman20thGTI 19 Posted December 5, 2012 I was just thinking why hasn't any suggested making the characters be able to: Point, Wave, even Jump. I don't think I have ever played a game where the player can't even jump.. Even Mario can jump! Or is this an ability humans lose in a zombie apocalypse??!!!And also was thinking it would be perfect for players without a mic to be able to point to direct someone instead of taking time to type in chat or speak in direct chat that can give there position away. The average human cannot jump very high. I fail to see why jumping would be needed, except, in the tiny, tiny, instance that you would want to jump peek over a wall...Vaulting is suffiecent for most every task in the game. boxman80 964 Posted December 5, 2012 You're forgetting the game is based on ARMA 2, there was no need for "jump" in a serious military sim. It used to be quite common for tactical games not to feature jumping (Raimbow Six series, Operation Flashpoint etc). It probably wuld be useful for Day Z though, I just dont want to see it leading to loads of people abusing it with "bunny hopping".I like the idea of a wave or a point though, good idea. DemonGroover 8836 Posted December 5, 2012 I agree with Box, the issue i would have is watching loads of players jumping around the place, like in WOW. That would ruin the immersion seeing a load of tools bunny hopping to escape gunfire and zombies.I just think the vault animation needs a cleanup and also an animation for climbing over walls/ledges etc could be created/used. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
pwajnkaim 1 Posted December 5, 2012 Jumping would be a terrible suggestion, you would not be able to jump over a 1m fence in real life without a run-up or carrying a heavy bag and a gun. It would also ruin the immersion seeing a bunch of idiots hopping about the place. Blise 2 Posted December 5, 2012 Jumping isn't needed and I agree that it will look silly having survivors bunny hopping everywhere. However a huge improvement would be to add a running vault to the vault mechanic. Currently you must come to nearly a complete stop to hop a fence. Hampering your ability to run from zombies and other players. Picture running at a fence followed by placing one hand on it and hopping both legs over simultaneously. Using your hand as a support to help with the load you are carrying on your back allows you to keep up your speed and assist in making the jump over the fence which would be impossible to do with a jump alone. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It would really piss me off to see heaps of players bunny hopping everywhere. The difference being that your standard CoD style bunnyhop makes you harder to hit, whereas this running vault type of jump makes you easier to hit.I wouldn't mind if something like this made it to the SA, everyone can jump around like morons, and everyone will receive a burst of 5.56 to the face region, then I will receive their sweet sweet beans.I would assume in time, once the novelty has worn off people would stop it, when we first started using it we parkoured practically everywhere. Same like pressing V at moment. Jumping is neassasery! I dont want do jumps like in gay Cod, like 3 jumps per second.You know the jumping system from Stalker? This would be perfect.But i see your not the smartest player and you got no experience in gaming or using a brain. So Climb slow over a fence and get killed.. have fun.
