Forum Signature

Whats the proper code for making a link in your signature that is just the text? I tried several different things but this forum is so funky... lol.

Tried [link=...

Tried <A href=...

As it is, I can only put the text and link separate.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I think this is still known as Bulletin Board Code (BBC) or something. Look it up on Google.

Mmmmm... tried that but it still comes out showing every detail instead of converting it to an actual link. Dunno...

What did you want it to say?

Just like Legacy explained to you:

I am text!

I am text!

You replace the URL with the one you want to link to, and replace "I am text!" with whatever text you want the hotlink to say.

Another way to do links with custom text is to toggle to the advanced editing mode for posting (click the little switch at the top left of the post window, makes all the options in the grey toolbar avaiable). With advanced mode, you can simply type the link name you want in your post, then mark the name with your mouse, then click on the "Link" button in the toolbar (below the dropdown arrow for "Size"). Paste your URL in the appropriate textbox and click "OK" - there you go! ^_^

Ahh the editing mode got it. Whenever I did the exact same thing in the normal window it just wouldn't show it properly...

I now can do text links. I'm trying to work out an image link. Oddly the editor SHOWS my image as a link... but in my actual signature it just lists the img url as a link... What am I missing? (* added obviously)

[*url=http://www.youtube.com/user/SeddrikFrost][*img]http://s211290890.onlinehome.us/public/Personal/DayZ%20FrostSig4c.jpg[/*img][/*url]

The image is 494 x 124... so its not a sizing problem. Tried just the image alone without a url link... and it still won't display in the actual signature properly.

The problem lies within the upload source. These forums only allow direct image linking from specific upload websites. I know for sure that uploads to tinypic.com and minus.com will be allowed for embedding.

So upload your signature image to one of those (for signature, I recommend minus.com) and try embedding the image again - it should work. :)
