onimaru 0 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) I'm sure this has been posted a thousand times but i've been trying to get this crap to work for days and i'm all out of ideas.I've filled in the squad xml using my exact playername as listed in the profile menu, converted my clan's logo into a .paa file, and I uploaded them to a public folder on my dropbox account.I used my ID number from the ArmaII:AO menu and pasted the link given by the dropbox public folder into my squad url.But nothing at all shows up in-game and when I load the xml as a webpage the emblem doesn't appear, instead it tries to use a sqd_logo.png that doesn't exist. The fact that none of the information shows in-game leads me to believe that either dropbox isn't allowing dayz to access the files or that I might be inputing my player info wrong somewhere.Any help would be greatly appreciated, here's hoping they simplify this crap on ArmaIII. SmashT 10907 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) Try a free webhost, I used byethost.comOtherwise post up or PM me your files and I can have a look if anything is wrong. Edited November 28, 2012 by smasht_AU
onimaru 0 Posted November 28, 2012 See if this works. Thanks for the help.https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vadnyf7vlsbjkzj/s9LMIzUH6-
SmashT 10907 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) I couldn't get your logo to appear, all the other details show up though. I can't even open your logo. Got a link to the image you used to make it? Edited November 28, 2012 by smasht_AU
onimaru 0 Posted November 28, 2012 Yeah, I put the .png on the drop box file. See if that worked.
SmashT 10907 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) http://www.smasht.byethost7.com/test/Your XML file was fine, so if you weren't seeing any details when you pressed 'P' and scrolled to your name, then I assume dropbox is the problem or the URL you put in your profile was incorrect. Try a free host.I redid your logo though as it wasn't working. Could have just been the size, I think it has to be either 16/16, 32/32, 64/64, 256/256. Edited November 28, 2012 by smasht_AU
onimaru 0 Posted November 28, 2012 I made it 256/256 in photoshop as a .png file, then converted it to .paa in texview 2. Not sure what could be going wrong.I'll try that website for the info.
onimaru 0 Posted November 28, 2012 That website isn't working either. The nickname and player name are the same thing right? The only thing I can think of that I might be doing wrong is getting my name or ID wrong, or putting in the squad url wrong.I just pasted http://www.smasht.byethost7.com/test/ into the squad url. SmashT 10907 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) http://www.smasht.byethost7.com/test/squad.xmlShould be in the squad URL, feel free to test with that but I recommend uploading to your own host. Edited November 28, 2012 by smasht_AU
OrLoK 16186 Posted November 28, 2012 Hello thereSome webhosts just refuse to push through the png, I've had this issue myself. Hosting the xml on another server is *a* fix, although possibly not ideal. As to the cause/solution, I dont know. Could be something as silly as the host being a linux/windows box, it could be the file permissions who knows? But it does happen and can cause much wailing and gnashing of teeth. So, while I may not be assisting it *may* not be you doing anything wrong.Test your xml on different webhosts.(also watch what prog you edit the file in some txt editors failed for me whilst others didnt)Sorry to be a bit of a doom bunnyRgdsLoK
onimaru 0 Posted November 28, 2012 Finally got it working with webs.com. Man this is way more troublesome than the last few games with custom logos my guild played.Anyway thanks a bunch for all the help.
Smee2 1 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Please forgive me for my intrusion into this topic/thread, and i apologise wholeheartedly for any upset it may have caused.I am also facing this squad.xml dilema, the squad text shows on the player screen but alas, the squad logo paa image is not to be found, rewarding my hard work and sleepless nights with a "cannot load texture .\" error. In the hope of saving my hair, teeth, sanity and christmas, may i request some assisstance from you all if you would be so kind?My progress thus far: Edited the squad.xml. Made squad logo & converted to .paa format using Texview 2. Uploaded to Dropbox and made it public, so friends can copy the link.So now i have the three files uploaded in dropbox, a dtd file, xml document, and the .paa.is there anything else i must add?Onimaru, i have the free version of webs.com, how and where did you upload your squad.xml to webs.com?Any assistance regarding this squad.xml will be very much appreciated. All fixed now, i just renamed the logo from "logo.paa" to "logo", it seems dropbox liked to add an extra ",paa" to the file name. sandbird 1 Posted December 8, 2012 (edited) Guys sorry for jumping on this thread, but i was hoping since Smee2 got it working he might shed some light. I am having the same problem. I got the squad.xml with: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE squad SYSTEM "squad.dtd"> <?xml-stylesheet href="squad.xsl?" type="text/xsl"?> <squad nick="Blue"> <name>Blue Squad</name> <email></email> <web>www.grof.gr</web> <picture>grofblue.paa</picture> <title>Blue Squad</title> <member id="xxxxxxxxxx" nick="Sandbird"> <name>Sandbird</name> <email></email> <icq></icq> <remark>I will get you</remark> </member> </squad> and i've placed in the folder : grofblue.paa, squad.xml and squad.dtd. I used 3 different servers (IIS, apache, and webhost.com) but still i get the : Cannot load textures .\ error. Its been driving me crazy ..... why oh why i cant get it to work. I am using a dayz.st server, and loading the game from Dayz Commander without any extra argyments. Thanks Edited December 8, 2021 by sandbird

With what tool did you make it oO ?Edit: I managed to make it :) In TexView you have to select RGBA and DXT5.Thanks people :) Edited December 8, 2012 by Sandbird
SmashT 10907 Posted December 8, 2012 All I do is open the image in gimp, export it as a .tga file. Untick RLE compression. Then open it in texview 2 and save it as .paa.RGBA and DXT5 have always been selected by default for me so I just left them.
