Private hives and whitelisting.

Recommended Posts

So I joined a private hive which soon will require whitelisting and would like to continue playing.

Whilst I somewhat trust the server hoster and admins, you gotta fill in an application which asks you to give them your GUID. Is it safe to do this? I only ask because I've seen some topics about players having their CD keys and GUID's stolen. This may not be the exact case, but I've seen GUID's being mentioned in these situations.

GUID's are fine. You can already see everyone's GUID in a server by typing "#beclient players"

It's a one-way hash so people can't find out your CD Key by having your GUID.

I believe the GUID is required to even use a whitelist.

The GUID itself cannot be used to gather any info on you, nor your CD-key.
