So, ok i just got the game yesterday on the Black Friday sale for steam and got the arma 2 combined ops, thinking that i would be able to play because i do think i have a decent PC.so i bought it. then i tried it doing everything not to lag and still seeing the very bright background that i think is generating the most lag is there a way i can mod the sky to actually look like a sky.

Go to Video Options and tweak with Contrast / Brightness.

I think the problem is that you have a Intregated graphic card (and old cpu+hdd too), Arma 2 is a demanding game for even todays computers, so adding a dedicated graphic card is recomended.

Thats low end "gaming" components you have there, so you will need a upgrade if you want to be able to play the game at a decent framerate.
