That's why i dont play in night servers.

Recommended Posts

Me and some friends were playing on a server belonging to some clan. 5-6 people of that clan were online.

Suddenly admin announces a server restart. After the server restart it is a pitch-black night. Playing on a European server at 5PM GMT+3.

What happened?

NVG.

I don't understand... the server was daytime(? assuming), then after a server restart, it was nighttime... and that's why you don't play nighttime servers... because daytime servers eventually become them?

What are we complaining about?

A random 10 hour shift after a server restart is normal? I did not come back in 15hours, the time it took for server to restart and me and my friends get back in was 7mins at max.

An admin finds NVG, time for a spontaneous server time change!

The point is only people with NVG play night servers. And if you play on em without NVG, you suddenly fall in to the prey category.

Most likely a scheduled restart to sync time to night time.

If you don't then people who join the server will have full daylight, while those who have played there for hours are blind as bats. Nothing to do with NVGs, just evening the playing field.

Amazing evidence you got there.

What? In-game time is supposedly (DayZ is ment that way) the same as IRL time at the server location. If you play at the EU servers after 10PM only, you will ALWAYS be playing at night. If you are playing on the same EU server in the mornings, you will be playing in the mornings ingame time aswell.

Are you implying that if you do not restart the server and reset the time, some people in the same server will be enjoying daylight while others will be stumbling in the dark?

Also the restart was not scheduled, as i mention admin"[clanname]Name" announced it.

And for the record, I prefer playing night servers, and I don't have NVGs.

I like that I have to pop flares, knowing that I'm a damn beacon for anyone watching.

Increases my paranoia ten fold. Like the time I went to court high as shit.

Do you not have night time in your country?

Yeah. Sadly in my Country we are not suddenly befallen by darkness at 5PM. Server was UK originated, so it was 2PM server time.

kissa3,

Your assumption is an assumption, and is only that.

There are many instances where multiple players are out of sync with the actual server time. Restarting the server/disconnecting&reconnecting resolves the issue, and almost ALWAYS raises this question from other players...

"Woah why is everything so black now"

"Woah its so bright now!"

While I agree that there are admins who purposely change the map time, I do not think your scenario was admin/nvg related (unless you have good proof).

Really? The whole idea that me and other people can be out of synch in time is completely new to me.

That explains a lot. How is that a thing?

Yeah, I've had that happen to me when playing in Virginia servers sometimes. I'll be running around in the dark (or light) and they'll be running around in the light (or dark). Lol

It is an issue relative to simple lagg & desync. Some players get it worse than others in any server. Depends on network traffic, and server specs.

Remember that arma maps aren't mean to be played in 24/7. Thus being said, you will encounter an issue here and there. Hopefully people will see less of this issue throughout development stages.

Hope This Helps.

*Related to Chimera's Post... I'll be playing with about 8 =HA=, where 3 of us are desynced in daylight, and the rest of us have it pitch black.

Possibly the server went into normal (EU time) because players on weekend are able to play during the day and it would suck if it would be night time all day. Just the same reason they have UTC-10 or whatever during the week.

I play with my mates, sometimes they cannot see a thing and it is like a sunny afternoon for me.

Restarting the server causes everyone to synch up because they have to all join at the same time again.

I never play night time servers either because you can't see anything or it's too late by the time I wanna play
