Internet Problems connected to DayZ?

It seems like since I got DayZ I have been having Internet problems. I don't know if the two things are connected but could someone tell me please.

Try putting sandbags and barbed wire around your modem and/or router. That should protect your connection just fine.

I remember hearing about dayzcommander or playwithsix messing with routers. If you're using either you should turn down max connections.
