Best place to build a base?

Well guys, I am playing in a private hive and there your clan can have a built base, with custom objects. But I don't know I idea where to put it, it must be a hidden place, a little bit big (it's not a small base :/) and no inclination.

Does anyone have any idea?

there is nowhere entirely undetectable, either choppers or passers by will eventually find no matter where you put it.

I pm'd you a couple of sweet tent only spots though, one of which I have hidden 2 tents at on several servers for a period of over 2 months and none have yet been discovered. Never tell a soul cos you can't trust anyone, not with tents.

Bases will attract attention to them like ants going to and from an anthill but there are some basic guidelines I'd follow, hide it in a bushy-forest, not one of those with the trees with branches only at the top, if possible build many smaller bases, trust me, from experience building one huge base is the worst thing you can do.

Skalisty is a good place if you have enough people to guard it, just make sure you draw very little attention to it being around that area e.g. if you have a chopper fly it out to sea first then approach Skal. from the south. (and don't leave the chopper there overnight), skalisty is a good day-time base but at night if you have less people to defend it and visibility is poor, you're better-off hiding it in a forest near northern-debug line.

Out of curiosity what limitations does the base-system have?

e.g. D'you only get one per team? Does it require building materials? Could you possibly screenshot some of the base sizes/camo of the bases to match them to the best terrain in Chernarus? e.g. if it's covered in a yellow camo-net put it in a yellow forest e.g. north of Prig. or Berenzino..

building a base right now is not gonna work due to lack of proper base building material.

you get fence, sandbags and tank traps. none of these allow for proper block of movement/line of sight.

plus you still need active people for defense, since everyone with a toolbox/entrenching tool can still sneak in to your fort in no time, no matter how many fences and sandbags you set up.

its not a good idea anyways because i take it, you won't be able to defend it 24hr a day.

just wander about the map and pick a random place in the woods to place tents.

make sure to either pick a distinctive spot or note down the gps grid.

don't use any tent spots given by advice, chances are theay are already popular and can be farmed by server hoppers.

don't build tent cities. one tent at a spot if you want to keep them as hidden as possible.

also, you want to make sure to capture all helicopters on the server, because

with a helicopter your tents are easily spotted from above, no matter where you place them.

Custom bases are easy to find. The harder you try to 'hide' it the easier it will be to find it.

Hiding a few tents is one thing but custom out of place structures in the woods will stick out like a sore thumb.

The server is a Private Hive, US 1011, it's a really nice server, vehicles everywhere, no lag and custom bases.

I'll make a huge base, with empty vehicles and then I'll hide some tends or vehicles with weapons and another items, around it, but VERY hidden.

Despite what everyone seems to be saying, hidden places do exist -- you just have to look. Our camp's been undetected on a stacked server since we pitched it over 3 months ago.

good plan, I always leave one or two less well hidden decoy tents near enough to my well hidden tents to grab passers by attention but in a spot that takes them away from the real booty, also leave some half decent stuff in them so they feel satisfied and move on, hopefully missing the real prize.

I also park vehicles i've used to get back to camp right in front of my main tents (back end out), it completely hides the tents from view and players just take the vehicle happy with their spot of good fortune.

best advice for tent hiding (for unlegit players) is..... hiding on a laggy server.

since nobody is going to play on some shitty 14FPS server.

problem is that many laggy servers go down because of that. so the ultimate hiding spot is a self hosted server that is laggy on purpose

Everyone says up North or along the West Side, but that's the first place I look. If your server has multiple Heli's, don't pitch more than two tents in 1k m of each other... keep mid/large size vehicles atleast 500m from the tents. Atleast the person won't find your tents and vehicles in one spot.... I love people that do this.. I will switch the contents between the tents and vehicles to screw with people...

ATVs, Motorcycles and Bikes... EASY TO HIDE :) The Bike is the most under rated... No Gas and Auto Fixes if you have a tool box :) ATV/Motorcycles are hard to notice from the air.... plus they fit in alot of buildings.... Don't be afraid to hide tents and small vehicles in towns :)

NOW, if someone has the time.... No base is safe.........................

There isn't anywhere 100% safe and even if you found a spot, chances are your tent will glitch and end up disappearing. When we have a heli we patrol all over the North and West, tents are easy to see from up there.
