New backpack idea - Tetris style

Recommended Posts

So i was thinking the other day about the backpack in dayz and how everythings supposed to be realistic, and an idea popped into my head. Tetris backpacks, now at first this doesn't sound realistic at all but hear me out.

The backpack would have its certain amount of space and you would manually pack it and depending on how good you are at packing will determine how much you can fit, for example you could slot sticks of morphine into small gaps around the pack, and lay the heatpacks down at the bottom, and maybe even have the ability to remove your barrell so your gun will fit. if you get the idea now i imagine you will be thinking "oh but then it will be hard to pack my gear" dayz is supposed to be hard, rocket himself has said he likes people being disoriented, and looking up out of your backpack to see someone with a hatchet ready would be quite an experience, i really hope this can be added as i personally would love this feature.

Also this could work in car boots and even car seats(exchange a seat for more storage) and tents also. this could be very interestine

I believe I saw a screenshot of the new inventory system in the standalone in a thread somewhere. It was pretty much being done like this.

yes but even more advanced. have it set up so if it looks like it will fit it will fit. could be a hard job for the coders etc but it is definately possible.

Here's a screenshot of one of the best suggestions (The one stuck at the top of the Suggestions page) - I think it's a very good looking system, similar to the RE4 one but better.

similar to what im meaning, but im talking a 3d packing system. and you notice the amount of space the ak takes up isn't all used, so you could fit stuff in that area.

I would like a system where a smart person packs the stuff that requires quick access at the top and the other stuff at the bottom of the pack. So if you need that morphine at the bottom you have to actually unpack to get it.

this would also make it harder for the bambi bandits to open your backpack and steal a gun, perhaps you could even be able to hide things?

Why not make pockets over body separate from your backpack. and use a quick select wheel for all your pockets/ shoulder strapped weapons etc. have the backpack still have to be opened as inventory, you could even use pockets on the backpack.... if a pockets full or has anything in it, it gets added to the quick select wheel.

something they defo need is weight added, and if it also impaired movement and sound plus fatigue the more you carried. that would be top notch, travelling light may become an advantage..

sounds awesome the pocket/quick select idea, maybe you can get combat vests also and they act as armour/store ammo, and hoodies can store stuff in the bottom pocket, but if you run there is a chance the stuff will fall out.

It's a 2d representation of a 3d space.
