FowynPrime 1 Posted November 15, 2012 Hi guys, just gonna post my quick story on what happend.I did not login to DayZ for about a month now.Two days ago i had my windows 8, and re-installed my favorite steam games. When i downloaded DayZCommander and updated everything to 1.7.3 i wanted to log-in and have some fun. Before i whas going to a Hive/Public server i downloaded the singleplayer DayZ modWorks great and all, but when i whas done doing some practice, i wanted to go to the server i always play on.Than i get this message. Now the error behind the ban is #2d687a.I've been trying to look it up on google, but i cannot seem to find information about it.Do be honest i have been looking around for hacks/cheats, but never downloaded them.I am wondering what got me a ban, since i did not go online for atleast a month.
Rage VG 4033 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Before i whas going to a Hive/Public server i downloaded the singleplayer DayZ modThere's your answer.Downloading anything DayZ related that isn't from the main site is basically giving away your CD key to some random hacker somewhere. The error #2d687a is just the first six letters of your CD-key, which I presume was stolen.Unfortunately, it means you would have to buy another copy of ARMA II to get a new CD-key. I'm not aware of how to go about doing that, so it's best if you ask someone else. Edited November 15, 2012 by Rage VG
jimaway 3 Posted November 15, 2012 can arma2 mods really access windows registry and use sockets to send the cdkey to some site?
rekrul 91 Posted November 15, 2012 The ban id is first part of your GUID.I wouldn't point to the SP mod as a culprit quite yet but if you did run some hacks in SP and then had those hacks running when you joined a BE-enabled server - you're done for. rekrul 91 Posted November 15, 2012 can arma2 mods really access windows registry and use sockets to send the cdkey to some site?I'm quite skeptical to this as well, but I'm guessing it's possible in theory through some buffer overflow stunts or breaking out of the Arma2 process.
Rage VG 4033 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) can arma2 mods really access windows registry and use sockets to send the cdkey to some site?Whose to say that it's simply an ARMA 2 mod?I'm not saying that there isn't a legitimate SP DayZ mod, but perhaps the site the OP got it from was a dodgy one. greenfist (DayZ) 11 Posted November 15, 2012 Or you probably tried some hacks a month ago when you last played, didn't get caught then but battleye bans in waves, not immediately.Anyway, just buy a new game but not from some illegal key reseller for $5. Most of them have stolen keys to begin with.
OrLoK 16185 Posted November 15, 2012 Hello thereThe PBO should be safe, but who knows what else was downloaded with it. If you are downloading/running anything from an untrusted source you may have compromised your key.Moral: Stay away from cheat/hack sites.RgdsLoK
boneboys 7988 Posted November 15, 2012 This is the second report I've seen with the SP mission.I still have the original DayZ S_P mission pbo and I have not been banned. The file size that shows on your computer is not the same as mine. You will have to take this up with BE.Please read the STICKIES next time before posting.http://dayzmod.com/f...al-ban-appeals/
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) It's also possible that you were actually the hacker someone reported back in July here: http://dayzmod.com/f...36/#entry238831Coincidence? Possibly. Only Battleye can help you, although it's highly unlikely that they will. Edited November 15, 2012 by Fraggle
