Can my PC handle ArmA II/DayZ?

Recommended Posts

AMD Phenon II 840T Quad Core Processor

6gb DDR3 RAM

ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics card

Anything I'm missing in terms of what I'd need then let me know. My weakness is that dreadful graphics card, and I'm definitely willing to upgrade, but I'd just like to know if I could hold off on upgrading for a while and play on low-medium settings just fine.

Thanks, though the news is disheartening I'm still going to try it since I intend on upgrading my graphics card (and processor if I must) to play this. I mind as well go all the way through with this to open the door for more PC gaming, and to play this gem.

Would it be worth it to spend $100-$150 on a new ATI Radeon 5770 or 5780 as well? I figure that would allow me to play most PC games but would definitely value some input from people who know much more about graphics cards and their value.

You'll be able to play with either of them I'd assume but I'd suggest something like the 6970 as the prices have dropped with the release of the 7 series

depends on how much you want to spend

No problem but before you buy the game, you could always try Arma 2 Free to see if it'll run.

The problem with that is my current ISP is satellite (Hughesnet -.-) and ridiculously slow. I intend on switching over to a local broadband company which I've heard good things about. The free version is only multiplayer, but I will TRY to download it when my internet is going at a reasonable speed and just see if the game works.

However, I usually can't even connect to multiplayer servers. This is why I haven't upgraded my computer for gaming. Hopefully all goes well. :)

Your graphics card will be your downfall here, just like for me, but seriously use this. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx

It seems pretty accurate and tells you what you need to improve to meet the minimum requirements. Courtesy of LVG.
