zenorc123 137 Posted November 13, 2012 Teamspeak.I quite disagree with players using teamspeak to communicate with someone while playing DayZ. Sorry if this was suggested a long time ago but I just couldn't find it using the search function.Back to teamspeak,I mean, if two players have to speak to each other ingame, they should just use the direct comms and speaking would mean being overheard by other players which would increase the risk for player contact. Others use teamspeak to coordinate a position in which they will rendezvous, I suggest planning it before playing the game and try your best to really meet each other in the game. Thanks for reading. :)
Rage VG 4033 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) You can't "Remove" Teamspeak, as it's not a part of DayZ... Edited November 13, 2012 by Rage VG
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 13, 2012 Isn't team speak a separate program from dayz? How do you expect to remove the use of it? Ask nicely?
zenorc123 137 Posted November 13, 2012 Isn't team speak a separate program from dayz? How do you expect to remove the use of it? Ask nicely?Oh sorry, I forgot to put that in. Well, a few months back, I play an FPS game in which when we try to use teamspeak, the game would detect it as a forbidden software or something like that. I don't think it's that hard implementing that kind of program. Well, this is just my suggestion. :)

Trust me, I'm going somewhere with this.Crossfire PH, I never heard of this blocking thing from other versions of CF so this might be done by those from the local coders. If you ask me what's the purpose of even blocking it, I honestly don't know but they seem to have done it.

zenorc123 137 Posted November 13, 2012 Now, how many people here do you think would have heard of this game?Ahaha, that's why I kept it anonymous. Nah, don't bother. Probably a stupid suggestion to be bothered with anyways.
Leadon77 94 Posted November 13, 2012 I have yet to find a game that blocks 3rd party VOIP programs...and if this game you speak of has then it's something no one else has done for a reason. Teamspeak, ventrilo, mumble, and so many others all are voip along with skype. Now then there's a reason no other games block them either from lack of wanting to or the fact that they'd need to lock every port on your computer for the internet to try to stop it. if a game tries blocking my ports I won't play it..... I believe if there was a way to achieve something to a similar effect, they should do it immediately. I just don't agree with the notion that we should block external programs that have no interaction with DayZ just to force a certain aspect of it, even if the player doesn't wish to experience it. I guess my point here is that using these programs lead to a big advantage over people and removing them can make the game a bit more dangerous. :)

mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted November 13, 2012 Pretty sure you can set whether programs have access to your microphone which is beyond the control of the program, making this useless. That sounds like too much hassle for the sake of stopping a game, in which you're speaking to other people, from recognising your microphone input. For the sake of gameplay I honestly believe that in-game VoIP should be more encouraged. I've said it before, I want to be able to eavesdrop on a bandit to find out his plans!Zombies should be able to hear people speaking too, (they can hear you walking on grass, so why not?) but it could only work if we used DayZ VoiP.
Leadon77 94 Posted November 13, 2012 Zombies can hear you talking try it sometime if your using in game local speak then they hear you talk to your buddy me and a friend expieremented with it calling a zombie back and forth between us.
OrLoK 16186 Posted November 13, 2012 Hello thereI "beanz"'d the OP because on some levels I agree.Whilst a little problematic, the in game chat is far more atmospheric. When you hear folk whispering to each other just behind a door/wall it really moves the immersion level up a notch. Also, TS etc takes away from the immersion for any not on a particular "channel" with other players becoming mute mannequins.I understand the issues involve in "stopping" folk using a third party program. I just wish more people would use the ingame system, flawed though it is.RgdsLoK

I shout and swear at zeds all the time over VoIP (pointless I know, I just think it would be funny if somebody witnessed it), never noticed them walking towards the sound though.Check this topic, along similar lines.
Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) A great idea and currently DayZ doesn't have anything to encourage people to use ingame voice. People use ingame voice to communicate with nearby unknown players to say they are friendly, that's about it. It's impossible to orchestrate a group or over long distances in game currently and that won't even be solved by introducing radios. Sure, radios will be cool and add to the immersion but I'm sure they will be difficult to find and thus not everyone will have one in your group. Plus the lack of security will just resort players to using 3rd party software.. Sadly. Edited November 13, 2012 by Dreygar
OrLoK 16186 Posted November 13, 2012 Hello thereI suppose it's like *abusing* gamma, people will ignore the fun of having to find radios etc and just jump on ts. It's a shame but it'll happen.rgdsLoK

The moon/stars do a great job of adding light in the absence of artificial lighting.
Penny Sue 77 Posted November 13, 2012 How about... instead of trying to limit every other 3rd party VOIP app... DayZ always broadcasts what is being said over any microphone into direct comm? This way if you were talking over Skype it would also be picked up by DayZ and broadcast over Direct Comm channel in game. There's no need to figure out every VOIP app people use and somehow limit it.Should include any input interface that's receiving a signal so people don't try to 'cheat' and use a different microphone for Vent vs. DayZ. This would include USB devices as well!I'm sure there are negative consequences for my idea so please bring them up and discuss them! Thanks

I have very loud flatulence, Tourette's, my tv works Dayz's doesn't... Do you really wanna listen to people fap? Should I continue?
