dumb nooby question..

whenever i enter a server it leads me to the arma 2 co menu, where do i go from here?

You should launch from something like DayZ Commander. Way easy.

i'm using commander. any time i click one of the servers it takes me to the menu though

It should bring you to the screen where you see all the survivors listed on the left, and people in the game with their pings etc on the right. From that screen you just click OK?

it seems like it instanly kicks me back to the menu after that happens

no i didn't have dayZ xD i feel like an idiot now. thanks, do i nee to dowload fallujah, lingor, namalsk or the others too?

You don't need to. They're just other maps. If all you want is the bog standard map you'll be fine.

Indeed, Chernarus is the only one you need to get started with DayZ and it's automatically downloaded when you first install DayZ.

Other maps are optional but you might find them enjoyable after huge amount of time spent on Chernarus.
