"Community" devtest servers

are dogs on this patch.. i tried in vein to find1 last night... if they r in.. we need lots around the spawn points (for testing ofc)

I believe not, there is a changelog that you can read through.

Q :Have infected hit distances or speed of, been changed in some way ?

It seems like I'm being hit before the animation has started/finished, or to put it simply, the attacks feel laggy / time mis-match.

It feels different from 1.7.3 build.

Also, street lighting (when player enters zone) does not improve infected vision (no indication in Hud or AI reaction)

Bear Traps = ouch !

Can reset but same problem remains when picked up (repeated breaks).

Dogs are out till we get them fixed (hopefully 1.7.5) due to some issues.

Try 1.7.4.3 on the DayZ.nu testservers .

You can get all the files from the CDN or www.dayz.nu

1.7.4.3 is our release candidate.

As for lightning , we just activated it so we'll add in visibility sooner or later to the visibility calculations.

As for zombies, I'll check in with the coders if the method has been changed. Let me get back to you guys :)

If I download this and install it, will I still be able to play on other 1.7.3 servers or will I be bound to the community test servers? I would love to participate, but if it's unplayable for me (due to ping or some such thing) will I be able to go back to 1.7.3?

You just need to backup anim and code with their corresponding signature files.

Then you can go back to 1.7.3 if you want to.

Another option is to create a folder in your OA install, and specify the folder as the mod on an alternate shortcut:

For official release shortcut : (...) "-mod=C:\Games\ArmA 2;Expansion;ca;Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;@DayZ"

For the pre-release shortcut : (...) "-mod=C:\Games\ArmA 2;Expansion;ca;Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;@DayZ_1.7.4"

Ooh! I want to help test! But I have to work out what to do - so give me a week to reread this thread, give up and ask LVG to explain it to me! :thumbsup: He's known for his patience and tolerance. :huh:

What I ended up doing was duplicating my @DayZ folder and renaming them both @DayZ_pre and @DayZ_release and extracted the pre-release files to the _pre folder, placing the key file in the Arma 2 OA Keys folder. Because I wanted to use my high rez skins regardless of which version, I simply rename the version I want to play to @DayZ and DayZ Commander automagically filters for the right servers when I open it.

Mi7 and littlebird put into play.

Balancing spawn locations and hitpoints before rolling out on public hive.

BAF_OFFROAD_D to find its way out on the field soon too.

I took some notes while I played a few hours.

Including bugs, comments and improvements.

* Vehicle damage is alot more smooth (Bicycle doesn't go from green -> red anymore but rather gets darker each time you drive it into anything)

* Vehicles are really sensitive (Bumped with the Ural into a rock wall and it exploded, drove only 3km/h)

* In general those walls should be removed/nerfed, they are pretty much invsible at night but still deadly for vehicles (too deadly for such a small wall)

* New vehicles are a nice addition

* If you have enough room in your inventory you still get the drop dialog without item name (for example: Pick up Smoke grenade (drop ))

* Street lights are off again with the new .4 patch (not sure if on purpose)

* You should be able to turn off street lights by shooting the generators and turn it back on by using scrap metal on them

* Zombies are numb. They rarely react to gun shots

* Still no flip vehicle option =(

* If there is no more room in the backpack and you try to put a gun in it it will still disappear

* New respawn rates are neat

* No hackers on the server, our vehicles were still there after 1 week (very unusual for DayZ, if you know what I mean ;))

* New crash site effects look fantastic (Smoke, flames)

* Same goes for vehicle crashes

* Parachute works like a charm

* There should be a script that gets executed when the driver/pilot of a vehicle leaves the game or gets disconnected that stops the vehicle and sets a helicopter on the ground beneath it

* Alternative: Co pilots should be able to get into pilot seat or pilot the helicopter

* There should be random military drops like on Namalsk

* Logging off while in combat had no affect

* New combat mode symbol looks good

* If you use the "Retreive patient" option while in a helicopter (Little Bird) you will lay down outside the heli unable to move

* Little Bird has the option to repair Missiles while there are no missiles attached to it

We found the Little Bird, also saw a Offroad a few days back so I guess it is already in?

Will post some more if I get something and if still necessary.

New update feels great though.

edit: Also there is a chopper on Skalisty Island on SE2, go get it!

Tents are not saving at all on SE2 (SE1, don't know, yet to find).

I lost a 4 about 10 days ago but thought no more of it (hive clean up ?).

New character yesterday, pitched tent.

Joined server today, tent is not there.

Asked over chat, confirmed by other players.

Are tents disabled ?

Also, too much von over side channel (blue), needs admin message.

Servers are full, having fun.

Are the devtest servers no longer devtesting? I hadn't been on in a while due to trying out new mods and then some computer malfunctions, but I was hoping to help test out 1.7.5. And, now I can't even find SE2. Are these no longer testing servers?
