Arma2 is a very CPU/GPU heavy game, even these recommended specs are only going to give you average gameplay quality. Secondly If you play it on a laptop dont expect it to last long as it will be hot enough to fry an egg on.

System Requirements

  • Minimum:

    • OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista
    • Processor: Intel Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
    • Memory: 1GB
    • Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 8600GT or ATI Radeon 3650 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM
    • DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
    • Hard Drive: 10 GB free space

  • Recommended:

    • OS: Windows 7
    • Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster
    • Memory: 2GB
    • Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM
    • DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
    • Hard Drive: 20 GB free space

http://www.walmart.c...remium/20975097 i am geting it for x-mas and i am only getting it for dayz so will it work? thx

No, not even close unfortunately. It's one of the weakest "modern" CPU's out there, only 2GB of ram, and the GPU is severely lacking. A $400 PC would be better, but if you are stuck on a laptop for that price you can get something a lot more powerful, but don't expect DayZ to be playable.

Since folks asked about performance for DayZ, and since there used to be a huge thread about this in that section (though it's gone for some reason o.O), I moved this thread to DayZ New Player Discussion.

Why would you get a laptop for DayZ (and gaming in general)? Have you already ordered/bought it? If so I would ask your parents to try and get a refund and get a tower PC.

If you have already bought it, you should have really asked this question BEFORE you wasted the money on that thing.

Wish i did know everything about computers but sadly ive been a console person and finally realise that pc is much more entertaining, and ive seen loads of arma 2, OA DayZ and Takistan life stuff and i really want to play it but hard to understand or find something that will run it smoothly and dont want spend thousands on something that wont run them, only pain about computers when you dont understand requirements and specs
